I was coming here to say this! I’ve been watching for years but I still like a gentle reminder to get on something if I’ve let it slip! Plus I like to see year to year anything that’s done differently or see how something is laid out in the space. For those of us that love to garden it certainly doesn’t get old!

Yup, coming to say the same. Usually you are a bit ahead of us in the season, and it is a great reminder for me. I often decide to do something, remembering past years, and think, ' how did Laura do that?'.

You and Aaron are very well spoken and knowledgeable and your editing is top notch. Your videos are the first thing I look for every morning so do not worry about them being boring or the same thing each year. I've been following for years and I learn something every time I watch them. Also, I really appreciate that you don't overuse tired phrases, you have a pleasant voice and you both are so positive and upbeat and get to the point quickly. You are the best gardening channel out there and we value your time and input.

Count me as another chiming in that Aaron is right! His comments at the end where he mentioned that they could have spent thousands by installing sod vs the slower & less costly route of planting seed, weeding and top seeding the bare spots are so relatable for most of us. I find it helpful to see the practical side of installing a lawn. While many of us don’t have the large lawn they do many of us would also prefer to spend our gardening dollars on plants over grass. Thanks Aaron & Laura for showing lawn care as well as plant care.

I agree with the no to roses surrounding the Hartley. What do you think about hydrangeas? Fire light Tidbit stays low and is white and smallish (up to three ft tall) so it won't distract from the beauty of the building . I think the uniform color of the plant will keep the semi formality of your grounds surrounding the Hartley, the height when mature will not obscure any sunlight from the Hartley and the change in color to pink at the end of the season will be gorgeous.

Yes to cardboard. Have used it now for three years to both take out grass and cover open, weed prone areas of my garden. As my plants have matured, the weeds have become less of a problem for sure. But, we have space all around our house between the foundation and plants. I just lay down cardboard, cover with mulch and no weeds, and no picking or spraying. Looks neat as a pin. The mulch should be put on pretty thickly to keep the cardboard covered completely and for a long time.

I have a formal rose garden with 100 roses with a fountain in the center. It has a boxwood hedge and and inner hedge and path of grosso lavender. I'm in the Willamette Valley and my rose garden pumps out buckets and buckets of flowers all summer, sometimes until well into late October/early November. So your hot summer weather likely makes roses flush out in bloom and then not produce more flowers. My roses are always producing massive flowers. Admittedly, I deadhead my rose garden weekly because I keep a very tidy formal rose garden and it is the center of our turn around driveway. 😬 I mix David Austin and hybrid teas. I'm excited to see how your roses do.

Good afternoon from 🇬🇧 uk I never get tired watching your videos, mostly because it gives me a reminder to plant or start seeds. Even though we are in different countries etc, it really does help and yes I’m an avid viewer. Your videos are a blessing too me because you are a breath of fresh air and a nice kind person. Depending on when I’m watching in the day (usually after work with a cup of tea or coffee) it’s so nice to hear something positive and different, from all the negativity at work. So please don’t think people are getting bored. You/Aaron/the children/your families/Paul & Bethany and even Rustle & Cheddar are always fun to watch. P.S. how’s your foot/feet? I hope it isn’t what I’m currently dealing with, which is Plantar fasciitis….so painful to stand and walk.

35:10 Great idea, Aaron. I have a very small garden, so for me it is important to think about planting stuff that will put on a show for a long time. Or put on a different show for a different season. That could be a tree that blossoms in the spring, produce fruits during the summer and then have beautiful fall colors. 35:25 That depends. I have hydrangeas that do NOT bloom for very long.

Pausing at the mention of wisteria! Moved into my new home 2011, there was a current wisteria that never bloomed for 3 years of my living there. I learned that if you dig a shovel down to roots and dig around you can root shock them into flowering! That besides banana peel smoothies for them have created a huge blooming wisteria! But be careful what you wish for! It's dragging down the wood Arbor in a twisted mess. Bought new harbors we will see what happens

Thank you Nature’s Willow! I ordered their itch bundle as I suffer from the mosquitoes in our area. Pain patches too. Laura: I love all your videos regardless of the topic! I routinely go back to Your first videos. I finally found a semi local distributor for Land and Sea and am thrilled! The big box stores carry all the ‘tones’ but not L&S. Thx to Aaron for all of his great work. No idea what a ‘grimble is’ but maybe a Nature’s Willow pain patch on your back would help!

Where I live, it’s required to have a catchment to water our house. We don’t have tap or well water. It also rains an insane amount.

So, slow work versus quick work is often an issue with outside jobs. This is why I like a price upfront for the job itself. Have a very quick garden guy who is amazingly fast, does beautiful work, and also has a design sense. In a few hours he can often finish what others would call a day’s work. I am not thinking to penalize him with the cost because he has an amazing skill. Fast does not mean less than with him, so the benefit of his skill goes back to him. He will also price out materials, so labor cost is clear. If he can do twice the work in the same time, then he can make twice the money. Good for him.

You said your cats never eat your plants so I thought, “ok”. I went out and bought a bunch of succulents and put them on a 6 inch shelf on my wall by my kitchen table. My cat, Wally ( rescue, who already knew his name, ugh) jumped to this full, tiny shelf and was going through my plants. 😂lol He is clearly Superman. I never thought he would have been able to make it to this small shelf. Well any way he ate some Jade. It made him depressed and sick for three days. I felt so sad for my little guy (2 years old so he should have known better). Any ways I went through and unless it said pet safe I threw it away. It was only a few dollars and not worth my kitties life. From now on I will only buy pet safe plants. Clearly my cat is not as smart as your. 😂😂. I’m not upset or anything it’s my own fault for not knowing my cat is Superman. ❤❤❤
