@darrelldean21049 ай бұрын
Hi Daniedevite, I was stationed in Germany for 12 years and long before the internet so the German products were readily available and very reasonable.
@CrimsonTiger3x9 ай бұрын
I am not sure your description of "fascination" is appropriate in this context; General Dean at no time advocated for anything pro-Nazi; he is a collector of military figures and how can a collector avoid the most contested of world wars, where everything was on the line....and figures, uniforms, posters, helmets, etc. which were part of that conflict. To collect Confederate items, whether uniforms or battle flags, does not translate to espousing Confederate ideals of slavery, etc. To know history, is to know every side, and pray that those on the right side--as clear as an example as WW2 was or the US Civil War--win. I collect original WW2 posters, of all nations. No explanation by General Dean is needed, though he is a gentleman to offer one below.
@darrelldean21049 ай бұрын
I appreciate the comments received and understand. As noted my collection consists of many historical representations of conflicts on many continents over various time periods. WW I & II are so displayed. WW II played a major role in my life from a very young age collecting toy soldiers, then during my working life as a UN Peacekeeper following the 1956 war. As I have mentioned I served 12 years as part of the NATO forces in Germany facing the Soviet threat. I was able to collect the toys of both sides of that conflict produced by two German toy firms. Hence my displays of history both during WW I & WW II. They are simply displays with no political fascination on my part. Perhaps I should have explained my self more thoroughly in my initial response. Cheers, Darrell
@Redwhiteblue-gr5em9 ай бұрын
Many feel German WWII uniforms are quite attractive. And in displays depicting famous battles you need figures of opposing sides. It has nothing to do with “fascination “ with Nazism as you are trying to draw some sort of warped conclusion that people who collect WWII German figures sympathize with Nazi ideology.
@daniel_sc10249 ай бұрын
For many collectors of militaria, it's exactly just that - military "stuff." It's about uniforms, helmets, weapons, etc. It's not about any political ideaology. And many collectors concede that the Third Reich had some of the best looking uniforms of the time. But for most collectors it's not a particular fascination with nazis. And then there is the psychology of any collector - "I don't have one of THOSE in my collection. I must have it."
