Ava and Ryan who better for both of them really? Ava likes dangerous older men they remind her of her father a dangerous Mafia kingpin. She literally found Jason when he returned because she's attracted to dangerous men. She provokes Sonny even now because he's dangerous and Nikolas is a boring momma's boy like Morgan and that's why they never did anything for her in the long term, and for extra measure she always finds a reason to see Ryan, the man she really wants but knows she'll be judged for it by the entire town, meanwhile I believe Kevin is trying to do something twisted to Ryan which is why he kept him locked up like his plan is to either project his personality onto Ryan to "cure" him or alter his mind to make him into what he wants him to be completely ignoring that Ryan has to want to be "cured" and the obvious link to voluntary healing would be if Ava wanted it. Ryan does whatever Ava wants so long as she is with him she could have just requested he get treatment to prove he loves her. Killing Ryan would only hurt Kevin considering they are twins and would fracture him into D.I.D again.
