Denise Alexander was never fired from GH. They wanted Leslie's story line to be longer and the actress was against it. When her contract ran out she decided not to renew. At the time Denise was very involved in the wild life preserve that she ran and wanted to dedicate more time to it. Her fans were very angry about it and blamed GH for her leaving. She did an interview and explained to her fans that it was her decision to leave.

Hang in. There’s debate about that. It’s said that she encouraged Genie Francis to leave the show in 1981 because of Frances’ cocaine prob. Many of the actors said that Gloria Monty was enraged at her, but couldn’t fire her then because of contracts. When DA’s contract came up and she wanted more time, Monty swooped in. Remember the abrupt Anna recast in 1992? Monty fired Finola Hughes very brutally. However, FH always had class and even said good things about Monty when Monty passed away. Watch the interview with DA shortly before Lesley died. She uses unusual words to describe her exit.

Gloria Monty didn't like the contract negotiations, so she had the character killed off. Like a big middle finger to Denise. It's too bad because Lesley was well loved.

Carrie Brewton Warning : spoiler alert for those who don't want to know what happens years later!!!! Having said that, They said that Helena Cassidine had arranged the whole thing, to retaliate against Laura for trying to make contact with her baby Nicholas, on the island (later, after she had escaped) and somehow, it was said that Stefan - who had a soft spot for Laura, managed to whisk Leslie away before Helena could kill her, and he gave her drugs over the years to kind of keep her in a state of not knowing what was going on, but it didn't permanently damage her brain.... I think she was able to gradually come out of the drug haze weeks after she was brought out of captivity. Hope that helps!

And oh, my gosh! The scene in the nighttime GH episode where Luke and Laura rescued her and brought her back! When you saw her in the car! I knew somehow she'd survived. They told the Cassidine story intervention then, what happened to her and how she'd been drugged for years. Incredible episode.

I remember crying like a baby when Bobby pulled back the sheet - the audience was in just as much shock...they didn't show a car or her in a car - just the argument and then that scene with Bobby. So...when Lesley came back from the dead...well I just couldn't believe it. There were too many doctors around for it to have been faked. A GH faux pas....but I have to say I did enjoy seeing her with Monica Quartermaine at the 56th reunion show... ah, the good old days...miss their cat fights....meow!

@@atlboo98 The young actresses were on tight weight constraints. I believe it was in Genie's first contract that she could not weigh more than 105. Genie grew 6 inches in height between the time she started at 14 and when she left at 19. A lot of stars turned to cocaine and other drugs to keep the weight off. Also there was no one her age on the show, Tony, Tristan, Sharon and Jackie were all much older than Genie. She hung out with them and partied a lot.

The official statement was that the actress left because she wanted some time off and they wouldn't give it to her, but the real story is that she convinced Francis to leave for Francis' own health and Monty waited until her contract was up and fired her the second she was able to in retaliation.........

She did and then she said 'someone' came to her room and said, 'Have you heard what the producers are saying about you,?' to which she said, 'No.' This person then said, 'They said that it doesn't matter whether you live or die because Tony (Geary) is the star of the show.' It was at that instant that Francis decided to quit the show. It is said that person was Alexander and Monty found out about it and also found out that Alexander also requested a large amount of time off and told Francis that she needed to leave the show to focus on getting over her drug problem. When her contract was up, Monty showed no mercy. Alexander was supposed to return to the show in '93, but for some unknown reason, it didn't happen until '96.......

She made it to the hospital though and that drug you are taking about would have worn off quickly. Glad if she made it to the morgue she didn't get put in one of the drawers. If the accident didn't kill her hypothermia would have faster. I know it's a soap but it's just no fun for me when a story line goes SO far into imaginaryland that even the imagination can't stick with it. I need to have suspension of disbelief at least some to have that "OMG" moment that drama is supposed to.

In 1996/1997, they rewrote it to it not being an accident but intentionally caused by Helena Cassadine as a way for trying to get Nikolas’ nanny to bring him to her in the airport in Athens. And then they “revealed” that Lesley had survived, was drugged to appear dead, and that Stefan had kept her in clinic to keep Helena from using her as leverage against Laura and also to have a chip to play with Laura himself. Lesley came back and got well enough to raise Lulu when Laura was catatonic. She has been off and on ever since. Her last appearance of significance was when her Italian boyfriend married Laura and Kevin

This was a stupid move of GH. In fact I will say this was the beginning of the decline of the hey day of the Monty era. Denise Alexander's Lesley Webber was very much a legacy character just as much as Steve, Jessie and Audrey etc. They had already killed off Diana Taylor which was another blunder in my opinion. Monty saved GH in many ways but she also contributed to its decline before she left as well. It's a miracle its still on the air.

Mike was a little boy whom Rick and Lesley were fostering (can’t remember if they formally adopted him). Mike’s biological mother was Ginny Blake and father was Derek Barrington. Ginny sued Rick for custody, but the two end up entering into a marriage of convenience so both could raise him together. They fell in love afterward. Mike eventually went to live with her bio father, Derek Barrington.
