New lapel mic has just arrived so audio quality will be better for videos recorded from now on (hopefully). Thanks to those who gave that advice. Any suggestions are more than welcome. Also leave all your questions so we can learn together. PS: count the many times I say "right here" and you'll get a free shoutout the next time! LOL =P
OMG, grid navigation? WAY over my head! But thank you for all you do and I appreciate your hard work and dedication. Have a wonderful holiday and fly safe!

I just finished a course on automotive engineering and I couldn't help but notice the mathematics using circle geometry to get the grid track is something very similar to what we had to do in our mathematics classes. Coincidentally we did this work at the very last part of the course so I still have some of it very fresh in my mind, but man I would be lying if I say it wasn't hard. This stuff had me scratching my head and I was only barely able to follow along with you. You explain it very well which also helped a lot!

Funny story...I had to do problems like this in physics class in high school with vectors except apparently in physics they didn’t want the heading you’d have to fly, which is what my pilot dad taught me when I asked for help. They did it differently and my dad and I were both flabbergasted considering my method would have actually gotten you to the right airport!!! XD

I completed my PPL, but i never heard about grid navigation. I thought i was pretty good with the navigation part, but I feel like i'm missing a lot of background information before i can understand what this is all about. Maybe a globe and a piece of string could have helped showing what we're even trying to calculate here. Sorry for my ignorance.

I didn't understand what he is talking about. But he has a pretty white shirt with badges (showing he is an important person), so I continued watching. I had problems when he was writing a Ç (cedilla C) like in Çanakkale (Turkish town) and declaring this character to reperesent a G.

Was following along just fine, until he suddenly mentioned the 255 GT... I suppose it’s because I’m not in training to be a pilot. The 255 grid confused me, but I actually understood and was answering everything else right along with him. What was the 255 GT and how in the world did he know to add that to the diagram???
@VASAviation4 жыл бұрын
GT is the angle from Grid North to the direction of your route so using trigonometry you measure 255ºG clockwise.

why don't you go due west along 75N parallel? It is the shortest route isn't it?

No, it is not. Going through the poles is shorter than going all the way along a parallel of latitude
