Dude, thank you! Its cool hearing that perspective for sure. I wanna do a full on gucci everything build one day, but like you sad, for this one I was trying to focus on gucci for the 'important' bits and get away with some other parts. It would be fun to get something super premium like a Hk416 and compare it to a full cheap build haha maybe one day! Thanks for watching!

Wow so i really need this more than you could ever know, theres like nobody building fullsize 16" ARs and this is literally my dream build 😍. Something that can do it all. But i was feeling left out of the CQB game with most every one and their moma building a 12.5 or a 10.5 and nobody is really fighting for the 16" guys. I dont understand why this is not a more popular choice, i respect velocity over everything so its an easy choice for me. Thanks for taking the 16" as seriously as i do its truly a clean build and a clear winner. And the folding stock. I though That i was being dumb because people laugh at me for having a 16" then a folding stock but it made too much sense for me so im glad you agree. The gun guys are so caught in ther OPTIMAL builds they refuse to understand the 16" is just as good and even better most cases, but all i hear is weight savings and CQB lol. And i get but like 2-3 lbs really and your willing to lose 400-600 velocity? Their crazy haha. Ima follow you so thanks for being you and believing in the 16" like i do.

I always like to see everyone's builds and the thoughts behind it. We all run our rifles differently. I prefer a lightweight almost minimalist rifle, though everything on yours is clearly thought out. Some of the guys I work with are talking about switching to the Unity risers. I didnt see the need until we started fielding the DBAL-A3 vs running the MAWL-D for our IR lasers. The DBAL is a chonky girl and obscures the lower portion of my optic. Now a riser it looking like the next logical step. Only problem is getting it to fit in our gun locks. Great overall production value and I really appreciated the breakdown of each piece. Plus the re-cap towards the end was a nice touch. I look forward to watching your other content.
@bargainbintactician

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed comment man! I feel like I took a similar path but for different reasons haha I used to think risers were super lame and unnecessary, then I started shooting with a helmet/earpro/goggles and was like OHHHHHHHHH i finally get it haha Look at me now, running a riser-on-a-riser with the casv + unity set up now haha Hope your build comes together and you dig the riser set up if you go that way! Unity is a solid option all around. I over torqued my riser and broke my screw the day I got it lol Unity took care of me without even making fun of me!! Good peeps lol

Brother, I’ve got a few things to say…just like as a few have mentioned, your production quality blows the doors off of KZbinrs with millions of followers! The vibe you set from angles of videography, your soft spoken voice and even a splash of piano-beats chill while studying music👌magnificent…along with the bat cave vibe set/your man cave while dawning some multicam black gear. Love the build it’s kinda right up my alley and something I’d like to try to duplicate or change some things for my own style but I’d probably stay pretty close to this blueprint. I have something kinda close already with way more budget items and in what’s classified/configured as a “firearm” (if you know you know) but as we all know when you add a bunch of trinkets it starts to add up. I wanted to mention your about your barrel a lot of fudds or wannabe operators bash on psa and say my (insert Gucci company name) has better barrels than cheapo psa…funny because most companies probably get the same barrels/barrel blanks from FN with a few exceptions of made in house barrels. My father and I were just talking about that and about how most people nowadays only run red dots with no backup irons…like literally have 2 red dots on a build or lpvo/rmr combo. The fact that you have fixed irons with quick disconnect magnifier and red dot is totally “mega Chad based” (as the kids say lol) maybe I’m old school but not to have back up irons fixed or flip ups is beyond me. Your 2a/ dad advice is on point too training and practice is more important than having a Gucci gear that just sits as a safe queen. Anyway dig your content and keep up the great work we appreciate it! 🤘😎🤘

Dude! Thanks so much for writing such a heartfelt comment after checking my page out. Sometimes I get caught up on the fact that it takes me a little longer to put out content; being a one man show with no editor or crew ( and no ammo sponsor lmao), but with a certain vibe im trying to nail, means that it can take a bit between. So its cool to hear that it lands well and youre enjoying on the other end of the video haha! I totally agree with you on PSA! I recently listened to a podcast where they talked about the FN barrels and how they manufacture so many for other peeps haha Trippy! But again, just adds to the reasons that Im fine rocking it as is. Isnt it funny how all the trinkets add up??? I had an Aero lower + PSA freedom upper that I was like, this will be a cool budget build! But then did the math for all the stuff ive thrown into in and was like...oh.....not really a budget rifle any more are you ol girl?? hahah Thanks again man!

How are you getting a decent eye relief with the magnifier and the cheek riser so far back? I have the Eotech dot and magnifier combo on the Wilcox 5/8 riser flip mount. I gotta get right up on the magnifier. I’d like a cheek riser but I feel like I’d need it further forward and then in the way of the charging handle.
@bargainbintactician
@bargainbintactician Жыл бұрын
The vortex 3x magnifier has a surprisingly forgiving eyebox, but the real caviot here is that Im simply willing to deal with a bit of 'narrowing' of the eyebox as you back off of it. If i want a perfect eyebox, I need to be about 3-4" away, but I can get away with up to 8" and still use the magnifer to make accurate hits.

I have been looking at getting Primary Arms new SLX 5x Micro Prism and putting a canted red dot with it for my GPR. I had a similar mentality that had with the consistent eye box. Can't adjust like an LPVO, so the eye boxes I would have would the be the eye boxes I get. Important part is making sure that both optics are the same height from the rifle, so you can snap back and forth so you don't have to adjust your cheek weld when transitioning. Makes for acquiring targets and different ranges from different sightlines very fast. Put the red dot on em, snap to the prism, tappy tappy.
@bargainbintactician
@bargainbintactician Жыл бұрын
Thats a great way to run it! I have been running a Monstrum 1-6 LPVO with a canted holosun 507c on my PTR 91 and have actually been thinking about pulling off the red dot; but your idea here of using the dot first and then popping over to the magnified side has me wanting to try it for a while longer. I normal just used it as : red dot>50m and LPVO
@DadTheDT
@DadTheDT Жыл бұрын
@bargainbintactician I have a love/hate relationship with LPVOs. The 1x will never be as good as a simple red dot, and the magnification at max almost always has a lackluster eyebox. For me, not having to waste time messing with the dial to adjust my zoom is worth it when it comes to the time of splits with transitions. That and the weight you save from not having the LPVO and mount, especially if it's FFP, is noticeable, IMO. I am gonna steal the shorter handguard idea though, super smart. And the end of the video where you break down every piece and part. Love that! Keep up the great content!

Am I able to use a low-pro gas block with that hand guard? Me personally I’m not a huge fan of the standard fixed sight/gas block combo
@bargainbintactician
@bargainbintactician Жыл бұрын
VLTOR makes a mid-length version of the handguard that doesnt have the cut out if thats more what youre after, but you sure could! Ive seen people run them with a PRI styled flip up front site/gas block. but you could run whatever gas block youd like. you would just still have the space cut out for the front site post to sit.

Thanks dude! I hav had great expeirences with my PSA uppers. Specifically the fixed front site/delta ring uppers. Zero issues with either of those ones I have. I have the 10.5 on my shorty that is a PSA and its got to be approaching 8 years of hard use. Run it suppressed a lot and beat the snot out of it. This upper I have on here I have less rounds/time with but its been solid as well. No accuracy issues or function concerns. I have bought a few of the mlok and quad uppers from PSA as well, that have a barrel nut mounted handgaurd isntead of the delta ring deal, and EVERY single one has come loose on me after about 200 rounds. To the point where my .300 blk handgaurd slid off the barrel nut completely one time haha! But, with that said, as long as you check your torque on youre good to go. Theres sort of a common saying out there with PSA, that YOU are the last stop in the QC department haha make sure you double check things, like you should with any gun, and youll be good to go

I'm interested in looking at this new rail! My nerf basketball goal, was the source of inspiration for the rail Key Mod Idea, I gave to Eric Kincel when he worked at Knight's Armament Co. I used the industrial shelving as an example of the idea in the assembly department there, back in 1995! I found it interesting how the improved MLOC took over from the rail Key Mod, but I can say I honestly like MLOK even though Key Mod is close to my ❤
@bargainbintactician
@bargainbintactician Жыл бұрын
Dang! Thats a rad story haha Theres that version of Keymod that Hk still uses, so its gotta still be alright! I actually always liked the look of Keymod, but being able to slide stuff all over is certainly a cool feature. If i remember right, Keymod failed earlier or something, but I had a keymod rail that held zero fine even with rail mounted lasers and such so who knows. Thanks for hanging Dave!
@ninjadave1970
@ninjadave1970 Жыл бұрын
@@bargainbintactician , yea your right about the HK, copy of the Key Mod with slightly altered dimensions to it. Basically the rails design was definitely inspired by the Key mod! I find it interesting too, that the Germans copy us, when I copied them, on the inspiration of the KAC 200m/600m Back Up Iron Sight! I got the design idea and suggestion for the sight came from the Germans rear iron sight on the WW2 paratrooper rifle known as the FG-42 ! One day while Reed Knight was at lunch, Doug Olson said to me, come on! want to see Reed's personal connection while he's away, Heck Yea! I loved it, I was like a kid in a candy store. I was able to spend 8 days there working on advanced weapons designs and ideas. Some of that brain storming came more than 20 years in advance, like for example the rail Key Mod idea. Even future developers would come along years later to develop some of the same ideas I'd suggested, like the newest Knight's QD ball detent suppressor mount. The KAC light machine gun is another example of the time it took for its development, till its adoption by the military. What orginally began with Stoner's design as the Ares 86 machine gun, later evolved into the design suggestions of mine that became the Stoner 96 machine gun before it was named the KAC LMG, as there's probably been about 4 other design generations since then. When I met the assembly supervisor, back in January 1995 named Eric Kincel, I actually got to see the early SR25 K gun he'd showed me. It was like a M4 but in 308! That gun was awesome, as I mentioned the M1a G2 bullpup that Eric had been involved with it's design. Eric Kincel had worked for Gun World magazine and he had done an article on the Stoner 86 machine gun made by Stoner's Ares company. I learned quite alot about its earliest military service on clandestine missions with Navy S.E.A.L teams... I found it fascinating talking with Eric Kincel, who would later create Vltor the company that makes the rail on your rifle. It's a huge honor for me, showed up at a recent party at Knight Armament, as a unregistered guest, when they were about to escort me from the premises by security, before I told them I was personally invited to attend the 100th birthday celebration of Eugene Stoner, a year nearly in advanced! I don't think anyone believed me, even Doug Olson didn't recognize me... I told Doug that it didn't matter, he didn't remember me, but what was important was I remember him, and how good his wife's German chocolate cake was, after nearly 30 years later. Security got ahold of Reed Knight the third, or Trey as he's known, and he said to them as there about to walk me out the gate. Is this is the guy? Trey asked them, Yep ! HE's GOOD! lol and I got a bracket and a pass to attend the party. I got to see so many amazing and incredible people , people who's been involved in weapons designs and development that have made military history of this Country.

Fantastic Video!!! Your production values are off the charts!!! Question for you. The US military is slowly rolling out the Sig Spear M7 to replace the M4A1. I have not had the ability to hold one in my hands, let alone shoot it yet but, every video that I have seen on KZbin of people firing it, it looks like an absolute chore to hold, let alone get consistent rounds on target without the gun becoming an anti-aircraft gun by the 3rd or 4th shot. Do you feel like the US military got that decision wrong and were better off with a heavily kitted out rifle as the one in this video or did the take a step in the right direction with the M7? P.S. LOVE the Outer Heaven Patch!!!!

Thanks so much D! Dryfire baby haha I don't have a background in LEO/Mil, just something that has always interested me. I debated joining the Marines when I was in high school but the band I was playing in at the time started touring heavily and I decided against it. Fast forward a few years when that band fizzled out; I was gonna join the local Sheriff department but after I finished the preliminary eval they put a hiring freeze on where I lived lmao So it never worked out, but it was something I always thought about. Looks like a cool build. But i dont understand 1 thing. Why use a unity riser and a big ol cheek riser too? In the shooting footage it looks like you're still canting your head
@bargainbintactician
@bargainbintactician Жыл бұрын
The cheek riser makes sure that I can keep the rifle stock seated into my shoulder, instead of putting the tip of the stock onto my shoulder, but then can still have my cheek contact point. gives me somewhere I can really dig my weight into when Im doing fast follow up shots to fight recoil a bit. Without the cheek riser I found the gun to be a little bouncy if I kept it fully shouldered and finding the dot on the move is harder when there isnt a third contact point and youre strictly using your shoulder and support hand, instead of shoudler, cheek and support hand. The cant is actually just how I shoot while wearing body armor that isnt "shooter" cut. These are SAPI cut plates in my rig, so theyre a little wider, and so it pushes out a little wider than I would like, so I cant the gun in a bit to close that distance a little. Without the cheek riser I would be having a harder time finding that index point though, even still! Not essential by any means, but I dig it on this build. If im running a piggy back or canted red dot set up, I dont run the cheek riser though, because there its actually getting in the way anytime you need to use the lower optic.

That’s some pretty damn good video production/editing for a channel your size man!! Are you going about this 100% solo?! I’ve been considering doing a build video on my main squeeze 12.5” suppressed mid gas Mega Arms GPR for a little while now, but apart from my IPhone 15 pro and a tripod I can mount it to, along with a half way decent mic, I don’t have any of the gear (and more importantly the necessary skill set) to record/edit/produce a video worth a damn. I may just do a tabletop/over the shoulder style video at my bench with a couple mins of me shooting and handling the gun in a more dynamic environment than some indoor square range, but I don’t even know where to start tbh… You got any tips??
@bargainbintactician

Thank you brother! Yeah I’m a solo artist over here haha just go for it man! Find your lane and only worry about making content that YOU would enjoy. Most everything I do is shot from a tripod as well. Invest in lighting, that’s more important that camera gear. Good lighting makes even an iPhone look awesome. I use my iPhone 14 for all my POV footage and it works great. Just start making content, you’ll never feel like you have the right set up. Appreciate the love brother
