Evenly Matched is a going second card for "going first" decks. You basically use it to minimize the amount of disruption you want to put up with when making a board to what you'd see when going first. It's fine in stuff like backrow and combo decks for that reason, though in "midrange"(handtrap spam) and OTK decks you're just floating around aimlessly while your opponent rebuilds their board to address your usually worse than middling setup. Actual "going second" focused decks usually want to either make use of the battle phase for using/protecting their effects, or to OTK outright, so it doesn't make sense in those even as a side deck option.

Exactly. Evenly matched then play your turn 1 like normal.

8:47 This is something I've been slowly learning to accept and become accustomed to, playing 40 is theoretically more consistent but sometimes over 40 is more so under very careful deckbuilding considerations.
@theoreticallyinsane56 ай бұрын
The basic questions to ask yourself when it comes to going over 40 are something like: 1) Is my deck already consistent? - If the 41st card won't stop you from finding your starter, then there's less harm in including it. 2) Are there cards in my deck that I don't want to draw? - Adding cards dilutes the chances you'll see bricks by a bit, which has a value worth weighing. 3) Are the ratios correct? Would adding cards lead to a better balance? - If you have a robust engine and are in a format where you need 2 handtraps in your opener to play the game, it's okay to play more handtraps rather than skimp on engine. 4) Are the cards I'm adding as useful as the cards already in my deck? - If there's a clear hierarchy of cards in your deck, you want to see your best cards more often, so you will need to value lower deck counts Ex.\ If your deck is especially vulnerable to handtraps and NEEDS insulation and the only cards that provide it are Crossout and Called By, you might need to stay as close to 40 as you can afford. To be a bit fair, it's not always about consistency; If you have a deck like Salad or D-Link which has a lot of disparate pieces that all have their own unique functions and each have hard onces on them, sometimes running a bunch of different names is more valuable since you can toolbox for them as the need arises, giving your deck the ability to play through more varied interactions. Maybe not ideal in a Tier 0 format like right now where you can generally expect the same or similar from most opponents, but always worth consideration. Consistency should be valued, but there is value to variety, too, and they can be weighed against each other when deciding whether to go over 40 cards.

This video was insanely illuminating, I play D/D and the goblin bikers deck is incredibly similar, I was already upgrading my deck to play handtraps in 1 of and going towards 60 cards cuz there's a lot of engine requirements and starters, so that segment got rid of many doubts

Seeing him completely skip over Raidraptor hurts my soul. The list looked okay, but: Nest is a 'win more' card that I don't think is needed at all. It's sorta an extender, but requires at least one other extender already to be useful, which is usually redundant. I find running HTs in Raidraptor cuts into space that could be reserved for more engine - Raidraptor is a 2-card combo deck that just needs any two extenders to reach a tower. I am a bit biased because I run boardbreakers instead (TTT, DRNM, Imperm) and I just use the power of the engine to keep pushing through HTs - you only need any two birds on the board to make a Raider's Knight which is full combo and a board-wipe. I also run a copy of Readiness in my main, with 2 more sided for Tenpai match-ups. It's also an incredible time card when paired with a Napalm Dragonius which you can side in game 3 to deal 1600 total burn before passing and flipping Readiness in draw phase. Nice to see Swallow's Cowrie in the list too, it's perfect for rigging hands in the draw phase.

26:19 seems like you could cut the Triple Tacs and the Terraforming to make it 40 cards, if you want the 3rd veiler then just make the deck 41 cards. The logic in cutting terraforming is that the card is searchable with engine. I personally like running Fenrir in the main deck as it applies pressure and can synergize well with scelta return the searched Fenrir back to deck to draw 2, the longer Fenrir is on field the more you could plus.

Goblin Rider list looks crisp 👍, only thing that could be argued is missing is either the Ghost Trick package (Shot, Alucard, 2x Angel, F0 Package) or Armored XYZ + Full Armored - Black Ray & Crystalzero Lancer (
@jaqtonido82512 ай бұрын
Honestly, the ghostrick udf package kinda sucks, its 5 extra deck slots for one monster negate, plus a spell. Feels too wasteful. You could just run a gossip shadow or ashura king for the monster negate and it would require less resources and less prone to playing into nibiru.
@goldsyerex45296 ай бұрын
20:14 here’s a guy who knows how to play branded: if you chain droplet sending monster to either Sanct or In Red there is literally nothing you can do. If they do in red, you chain sending monster. It doesn’t matter that you can’t activate effects on res bc Sanct is negated. If they do Sanct first and you send, the in red still doesn’t matter. So long as you can’t chain Sanct to Droplet, the lock doesn’t go through. Granted there is always more interruption (unless someone actually doesn’t know how to play Branded and they just go for Puppet lock only) but the puppet lock is what kills most decks You or anyone else is welcome to disagree with me, and argue against this.
@goldsyerex45296 ай бұрын
Sorry, just remembered Blazing King exists. Although it is being played more now, it’s barely played at all. It is the one out to droplet that always works (unless you just so happen to send monster and trap because you too decked imperm and decided to make it cl1 on some poor MJ 😭)
@skuamato78866 ай бұрын
In the UK National FInals the branded player sent puppet in their turn and in the opponents turn they activated red, used it to make sanctifier and then used sanctifier in the post resolution window to put up the lock. So no chance for droplet there.

@turtle-bot30496 ай бұрын
Small world is a good budget option in melodious if you don't have access to 1st movement solo (why is this card not reprinted yet). Veiler bridges everything (even ash/mourner) into refrain or an extender and you're already running 3 veiler anyway as a hand trap so no need for a zombina brick to make it work.

9:27 I was actually thinking about trying to go over 40 in goblin biker because there's a few garnets, but the problem for me is ED space. Any other engines you could play in the deck to give it more starters require more extra deck space in an already tight extra deck, and the main engine I was thinking about was SHS because you can use it to make gear gigant X and search speedroid terrortop to normal summon it and make gabonga which itself leads to a whole combo, and sargas has amazing synergy with goblins and can search regulas for an omni negate, but SHS just feels bad as an engine... Restructing you to not having any spells or traps in your GY to use it means you're heavily limited on what board breakers or non-engine you want to use, some powerful engine cards like emergency teleport also conflict either it, and obviously drawing into it later in the duel is just a dead draw. I'd really like to see your take on goblin biker though. There's so many powerful rank 3 enablers in the game right now especially since terrortop is at 3. I've even thought about playing a few mikanko names with water arabesque as a sort of board breaker that also assists with making a rank 3 since I think water arabasque is just a crazy card.

Bricking happens in general, I play Snake-Eye and have drawn all HTs before… you just gotta be smart in where you’re hand trapping so you could possibly draw the engine you need, if you don’t you just keep hand trapping and hoping.

Branded Lost = Altergeist Protocol ?!?! Do they cheat what is happening?
@babrad6 ай бұрын
It isn't. Protocol protects [the effects] of your Altergeist cards on the field from being negated (countering stuff like Skill Drain, Ash Blossom, Veiler, Imperm's both effects) Meanwhile Lost protects [the activation] of your cards or effects that include a Fusion summon (countering stuff like Ghost Belle, Solemn Judgment, Apollousa, Baronne/Savage)
@Element_Doom6 ай бұрын
@@babrad so why do they say droplet doesn't work on Albion Sanctifire for Gimmick lock? It makes no sense, Sanctifire effect is not on summon like Guardian Chimera... Yes, Sanctifire can't be targeted, but Droplets doesn't target either, and Branded Lost doesn't change anything about that. I'm confused.
@MarioLopez-xs3vc6 ай бұрын
@@babrad That's why you negate it during an open game state instead of reacting to its activation. If the Sanctifier was made before your Draw Phase, you can just negate it at the start of your Draw Phase. Which is why it usually doesn't get made that way outside of trying to play around Maxx "C" in the OCG/MD. The issue that makes Droplet "pointless" actually comes when it gets Fusion summoned on your turn, since activation on-summon means Branded Lost stops further interaction with it: With Cartesia you have until the start of your Main Phase to negate that, but if they have a Spell/Trap to fuse with, your only option for stuffing a Puppet Lock is going to be attacking the GY directly with D.D. Crow, a Bystial or a quick play like Called by the Grave or Shark Cannon, which is why Droplet doesn't matter, since an Albion dump means they'll usually have a Branded Spell/Trap to fuse with.
@MarioLopez-xs3vc6 ай бұрын
@@Element_Doom As I stated in the other post, you ideally want to activate Sanctifire as it's summoned so Branded Lost keeps it from being interacted with if your goal is to Sanctifire Lock in some way. The better option against that is actually attacking the GY directly in an open game state(preferably the start of your Draw Phase) to get rid of the Puppet or other summonable floodgate itself, as the Branded Spell/Traps that Fusion summon also pull out Albaz, a Fusion or a Despia card so those are all bad targets to aim for.
@babrad6 ай бұрын
@@MarioLopez-xs3vc What open gamestate? Immediately during Draw Phase? The opponent can chain it if you don't use a monster, Branded in Red if you don't use a Spell and Duplication (or Retribution GY effect) if you don't use a Trap. Furthermore as you said, they can use Red in the draw phase as soon as you pass priority after performing the draw, then make Sanctifire using Albaz + Guignol, and on the summon response window that Lost applies activate Sanctifire to safely summon Puppet. In a proper combo sequence they also have Mercourier in hand for monster handtraps so this limits the counters even more.

The superpoly argument I highly disagree with as as long as it legal at 3 the card is worth playing because it breaks boards. Not playing it in a deck that SEARCHES it whenever it wants is bad
@babrad6 ай бұрын
It depends on the current meta. For example if Voiceless is tier 1 and they typically end on Guardian + Sauravis (old man) + Lo, it's worth it to Super Poly their Sauravis + Lo for Mudragon that will also disable the trap which pops as well as Imperm and Veiler (that way they wont float into a new ritual and Guardian loses the omni negate and targeting protection). So you trade 2 cards for 2 cards, with potentially more. Versus snakes you can't super poly Apollo + IP + Flam (or 38), so you need to get a Yubel on the board without Apollo and SP interrupting you first, then you can potentially have a big payout to fuse away their entire board and OTK with 1 attack (Protector 2k burn on summon + 3000 attacking Flam from Pain + 3000 Protector burn and banish). However this doesn't deal with Promethean or handtraps and you have to OTK since their followup is better than yours. So you look at a potentially good card (super poly) + 1 needed discard, being left with 4 cards to make the above situation possible that is quite hard.
