When my furnace kicks on my controller goes to a solid green for ~30seconds, then it turns off for 30 seconds, then back on and the cycle continues until the furnace shuts off. IS this normal? It doesn't seem like the solenoid is opening as the 1/4" supply line never gets hot (tapped into a hot water pipe).

Is this compatible with Humidifier HUMCRLBP2417-A24?

I am not familiar with that model, but if it is a bypass - evaporative model without a fan, yes. It does NOT work with fan or steam models.

the humidistat will turn the water off when the humidity reaches the level set by the humidistat. what else does this controller do to save water?

It regulates the flow of water through the solenoid valve.
