So let me get this straight, forgive me I'm slow. You complain about Colonialism, now let's break this down even further. Are you against European Neocoloniliasm or all types of Colonialism? You do realize every single group and people practiced warfare and conquering? The man showed at the beginning a Sub-Saharan African Empire too right? Remember when they became independent, they wanted to be free of White rule and run their lands by the indigenous people there. This was back in the 50s-80s too. Now let's take America since I don't know the actual European/ French numbers. We have about 50 million of these savages here. They fled their blaq majority government run countries to fall under the rule and guidance of White people in their native lands too. Your whole tirade falls apart and even the argument of why European supremacy as well as Colonialism was a bad thing. Sub-Saharans were a poor, uncivilized and illiterate groups before the Arab, Amhazge and later Europeans came in to enlighten and give them written languages. To call this a terrible thing let alone to shame our history is an insult to progress and achievements. Go back to Burkina Faso, live with the people in the wastelands, when you get sick instead of getting a European taught medical doctor you get a witch doctor who rubs hyena butter on your venomous snake bite and have him bury chicken bones under your rock pillow to charm away the bad juju.

On one hand, I like to see new African nations form out of borders carved out by European colonization, and cooperation of the 3 countries will generally help everyone economically and security-wise. But on the other hand, these are dictators and so nothing is guaranteed. This could end up just like the United Arab Republic and fall apart in a few years. Hopefully, we can see the region stabilize because of this, become more prosperous and hopefully slowly transform into more democratic governments in the future. I also wonder what their new flag will look like and how the Confederation government will function (i.e. multiple capitals?, rotating presidency? etc.) I hope for the best!

Correction: it’s very very misleading to say nobody likes it. All of west Africa, Central, and South Africa loves it. The people in Nigeria were in completely against ECOWAS’s threat. It’s specifically France, the US and their puppet governments in Africa who don’t like it, not their people. Also we never voted for this governments, they all stole their elections, hence the support for these governments by other African populations. Infact, we are rooting for more governments to be overturned. Any government that is against this alliance is an enemy of the people of the various nations that reside in Africa.

I'm not super knowledgeable on it either. But from what I could gather doing research for this video: France is at fault to some degree, but not to the extent the military coups make it seem. Not to mention the fact there is a high probability they are being financed and influenced by Russia. Kicking out one European power to replace it with another doesn't seem too beneficial for the people, especially when it costs them a democracy in return for a military dictatorship at the same time.

@@General.KnowledgeI think the issue you're seeing this from a western lenses. Africans do NOT care about democracy like that, we care about economic development rather it's done through democracy or authoritarian we don't really care. Russia never colonised Africa, plus most African countries were able to get independent due to the help of Russia doing colonisation. So in the west Russia is scene as a "boogyman" while in Africa the west is "boogyman" . We see Russia and China as the only nations that can counter the western dominance. The way you view the west is NOT the way the global south view the west. You're seen as an evil colonist who does whatever it takes and creates whatever lies to dominate the global south to steal resources. Look at Iraq, Libya, Syria. In other words the way the west views Russia is the way the global south views the west LOL.

I'm African American and 2nd generation West African (Guinea). The French basically maintained their predatory extractive colonial trade and finance relationships with formerly French colonies by installing puppet governments in former French colonies. These installed puppet leaders often held the majority of their personal finances in French and European Union (e.g., Swiss) banks. These puppet leaders typically educated and their children in French and European schools are universities, held properties in Europe, and had greater meaningful policymaking and social interactions with French and Europeans than with their own populace. I know because my own family is regrettably among these former Western installed puppet rulers. France actually prints the grossly devalued currencies (CFA Franc) of the ECOWAS states, buys the mineral and natural resources of these ECOWAS states with this printed money, and demands a hefty fee for this disservice. The burden of this fee, along with hyperinflation, exorbitant telecommunication fees, crushing extortionist national debts (often repaid with national resources for pennies on the dollar) and devastating foreign exchange currency devaluation, is passed on to the people while the installed government leaders vacation with their families in Paris, London, USA, Luxembourg and other upscale Western venues. These puppet governments are basically corrupt, extractive, racketeering mafias destroying the opportunities of their people. In response to this predation and economic subjugation authoritarian military coups have taken place and autocratic governments established. Greater autocracy in governance is a common and historically economically successful (pre-war Germany and post-Great Depression USA) political response to devastating national economic failure. I hope these fledgling autocratic governments in the Sahel region are able to nationalize natural resource mining finance, and energy (hopefully mostly renewable) production and distribution, and build their manufacturing and industrial base. These policies should bring broader prosperity to the region as they have in Germany, the USA, Norway, China, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and other economically successful nations. Economic sovereignty, success, and state sponsored education of the populace can then lay the groundwork for representative democracy and more representative and responsive government to the benefit of the majority of people in the Sahel region. All of this must be done quietly, outside of Western view, as France and other Western nations are economically dependent on the previous extractive trade policies and are willing to resort to lies, subversion, murder, and mayhem to maintain them.

This confederation is the best news coming out of Africa since the European invasion in the 17th century when massive manpower was abducted from the African shores followed by destruction of its institutions, genocide of its people and theft of its resources and land! All members of the African diaspora must pray for the success of this confederacy and indeed inclusion of as many neighboring countries as possible. It seems the King of Morroco, the head of Lybia are interested in joining. My greatest disappointment is in newly elected Senegal president Faye, President of Guinea Doumbouya and of course Nana from Ghana have revealed themselves to be puppets of colonial rule. There seems to be a problem with the electoral process where seemingly puppets win? Perhaps military rulers are needed until the Continent is finally freed from its Northern and Western invaders!

African nations could benefit enormously from ending European political and trade influences thereby building independent economies. It seems natural that Africans should form their own alliances and establish new borders for national cohesion and stability by negotiation when possible or war as necessary. Because indigenous leaders understand the local needs and cultures, and since it appears that both North and sub-Saharan Africans actually do hate liberal democracy, just as we see in East Asia and the Middle East, it should not be surprise anyone that the people ultimately choose authoritarian governments. The governments in Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso are creating something new that is bound to be more satisfactory to the people than quisling governments installed by colonial powers.

It become the dominate form of government in the west because created a middle class, pushed for institutions to check power and said poorer countries became richer. Granted it was a long development which took from Greeks then to Christianity then to the Enlightenment etc..., Remember Scandanavia was poorer than many African states in the 18th century.

These are the three most loved African countries. They have freed themselves from colonial oppression and have decided to for a powerful bond. I hope that serves as an example as to how all african countries should seek to move forward.

So they essentially replaced one colonial overlord (France) with another one (Russia). Kind of like the Philippines going from Spanish to American, but without direct use of force.

These juntas have at least been encouraging growth for the time being, which could reduce pressure from Africans reaching Europe. Also, influence away from France is a good way for the western countries to play fair instead of strong arming as they always have.

I just want to know for sure in a Free and Fair Election, if this is what they really want. If it is, then we should respect their wishes - this is too Russian-influenced, they'd just be throwing one Branch of Europeans controlling them away for another, if it's not Free and Fair.

When you say most people don’t like it, or nobody like the Sahel states, remember to add “in the western countries of Europe “ , not in Africa. Actually, Most Africans love what they’re doing . They’re inspiring them to do the same!!!
