The title of the video caught my attention so I watched it to learn why anyone would ever want to generate random numbers. I'm still wondering!

But there are reasons: a teacher generates random questions for the kids. A student generates random data from a database to create a table with valid but impersonated data to excercies e.g Excel functions... Not to mention the games... :) (Gambling, dice, etc.)

Does anyone know how to program this: I fill a cell with a number, 1000 for example. When I increase the value above 1000, the surplus is filled in another cell instead. How does one do this?

you can use if formula. you can select a cell that you want to see surplus then write a formula on that cell. for example if(A1>1000, A1-1000,0). Here put 1000 in A1 (or whatever choose a cell).

Old guy here. Does "between" 5 and 9 now include 5 and 9? Many years ago that would have been "between 5 and 9, inclusive" or in the range of 5 to 9.
