Lyrics:
I'm walking in the street
With the latest on my feet
And the hair that makes the people stop and stare
I got no money, well, that's okay
Because I live from day to day
Well, I'm free to come and go just as I please
Wild, wild, wild, youth
Wild, wild, wild, youth
Wild, wild, wild, youth
My records are so loud
I gotta hang out with the crowd
Because the usual crew are sus on what to do
Mom and Dad says, I can't win
Because it gets you in the end
But the fragile is the gun that shoots the man
Wild, wild, wild, youth
Wild, wild, wild, youth
Wild, wild, wild, youth
Wild
Wild youth
Wild youth
Wild youth
Wild, wild, wild, youth
Wild, wild, wild, youth
Wild, wild, wild, youth

G had the best tone...Still my favorite punk band of that era! I did a cover of white wedding a while back! I lost my speech to Cancer but God saved me from dying and is restoring it. I'm gonna wear a x shirt live when I perform music in hollywood! I sound more like Rob Halford but Idol had left a big imprint on me vocally forsure! My band is called Marty Black and the Living Dead!

In his book he was talking about making the second record with this group and it was imploding. The sound engineer said why are you wasting time with these guys? You're the star. He was soooo right.

Same. I just turned 60. I grew up in this genre, and the lyrics and attitude helped shape me. I still jump around to this, Buzzcocks, The Furs, Clash. To this day, I still listen to it.

That's a little reductive of the younger generation's views don't you think? That being said the music today is garbage compared to this era.

@@robertpegler3575 Now who is being reductive? The music nowadays is only garbage to you because it doesn’t resonate with you. Each generation thinks the next generation’s music is garbage. Music has the most impact on our lives when we are young, and most people keep listening to the same genre from their youth as they get older. If you did some exploring, you probably would find some new artists you like. And I’m not about mainstream artists that get shoved down our throats by record labels.

Bought this single in 1978 aged 13, it was an anthem to me. The lyrics are always transcribed wrong. It's "But the spray-can is the gun that shoots the man *" (* meaning: the "system") 😎 WILD YOUTH I'm walking in the street With the latest on my feet And the hair that makes the people stop and stare. I got no money, but that's okay, Because I live from day to day, And I'm free to come and go just as I please. Wild, wild, wild, youth Wild, wild, wild, youth Wild, wild, wild, youth. All my records are so loud, I gotta hang out with the crowd, Because the usual crew are sussed on what to do. Mom and dad say I can't win, Because it gets you in the end, But the spray-can is the gun that shoots the man. Wild, wild, wild, youth, Wild, wild, wild, youth, Wild, wild, wild, youth. Wild youth, Wild youth, Wild youth. Wild, wild, wild, youth, Wild, wild, wild, youth, Wild, wild, wild, youth. (c) 1978 Billy Idol/Tony James.

You know I truly love early punk and its influence but when I think of punk in my time I'm thinking of hard core American punk.I was a teen in the early 80s listening to stuff like dead kennedys, agnostic front, black flag, circle jerks, bad brains, dead milkmen,m.d.c,early suicidal tendencies, bands like that. Those took punk to the next level from the 70s proto punk bands or brit punk.iggy pop new York dolls and the ramones were big influences even on the British scene. People say punkmis dead. It was for awhile. You had these whiney ass kid bands who cosplayed as punk rockers while singing pop music so the kids from the 90s and 2000s think ooh they are so punk. but the last 6 to 8 years more bands are showing up that are true punk coming from over seas. Like the chats. They are what punks all about. I should know, I was there in the slam pits.
