I loved how fat everyone was in RBI Baseball. One annoying thing about that game is that it didn't include the infield fly rule. Have an infielder drop a fly ball on purpose and you can easily throw out the advancing runners. My friend and I almost got in fistfights over that BS.

The NES was actually considered an underpowered console at the time of launch. Part of this was to keep costs down, but another reason is because most games at the time were in the realm of Pac Man or Donkey Kong, so really powerful hardware wasn't necessary. Later on in the NES life, designers were able to use software tricks to simulate screen scrolling/other effects and hardware cartridge addons for the cart for further enhancements, but games like this were done with sheer creativity. I love Punch Out!

NES, SNES, Sega and probably Sega Genesis were consoles with games emphasizing the fun factor. After that, it was all about the graphics. The consoles of today are amazing but when you can have as much fun with 8-bit or 16-bit graphics you know graphics are secondary to having fun in a game.

Bald Bull II was always such a pain because you *have* to score that third knockdown on a bull charge. All your work and effort comes down to one timed bodyshot punch. I never had much comparative problem with Super Macho Man (other than him looking nothing like Randy Savage), but Sandman was so quick, he felt nearly impossible. Plus, it is hard to learn how to fight either of them if you can't see what they do, and you cannot do that unless you get past Bald Bull. Its nice there was a code for Tyson, but I always wanted one for SMM or Mr. Sandman.
@officespace7777
@officespace7777 6 жыл бұрын
My friends didn't have a code for Tyson. The game was still new and there were no codes out at the time except for the ones you got from playing the game. So the only Tyson code we had was the one that took you to super macho Man. We had to beat macho Man over and over just to get back to Tyson. Then to be knocked out in 30 seconds to try all over again. But I was the one that figured out in our group that maybe the first answer to beating Tyson is not to get hit by any of his upper cuts at the beginning. So my friends were stressing. "How do we beat Tyson if he can knock you out in one hit?" At that point they thought it happened the whole fight. So I gave it a try with the idea don't get hit. When we saw that he started to fight normal after passing the uppercuts the flood gates opened for the opening to beat him.

Some of the secrets I know is the following... When you fight Glass Joe, there is a trick to actually knock him out in "1" punch in the game. The timing is super hard and critical to this, but it can be done. When the timer reaches 40 seconds in the first round, he steps back and goes into a pose. If you can time the punch so that you punch him just as he comes back to the center, you can knock him out cold. The timer needs to be 41 seconds, just as you punch him. Timing this punch is super hard. When you are fighting Von Kauser, right at the start, just keep punching, but alternate high and low attacks so you don't get too many attacks blocked, and once in a while, you get stars. When fighting Piston Honda, if you punch him just as he's doing his "eye brow" animation, you get stars, and you get him to stop his power punch ability. Alternately, the 2nd Piston Honda, you need to do the face punch 3 times in a row, or he will go into his power punch 3 times. When you are fighting Great Tiger, when you see his turban light up, punch him in the face right away to get stars. (Sometimes) Also, when he goes for his uppercut attacks, punch him in the stomach just as he's about to attack to get stars every other hit. It takes practice, but you can do damage while gaining stars this way, as well as get a TKO in the first round. When you fight the "1st" Don Flaminco, it's possible to knock him out in the first round without a TKO, but you have to practice the art of the light dodge technique that he explains in the video. Doing so increases your attack speed for a short time, but doing the usual "LEFT, RIGHT" when you attack just following the quick dodge will get him knocked out after the 2nd time. Part of the trick is to hit him quick before a specific time is on the clock. When you are fighting Mr. Sandman, when he goes for his "Night Night Punch" attack, if you manage to dodge his attack, you can hit him 15 times instead of the usual 10. Once you dodge his "Night Night Punch", first punch him in the head, then punch him in the stomach "A" button 9 times, "B" button 2 times, then "A" button 4 more times. This is for those who have trouble fighting the 2nd Bald Bull. When you fight the second Bald Bull, there is a glitch in the game. When he goes for his Bull Charge attack, dodge the first attack, when he resets and does it again, instead of punching him, hold "DOWN" to block. For some reason, he will stop dead in front of you for 3-5 seconds, allowing you an opening to punch him in the stomach. The glitch only works in this way. Not sure why this glitch was in the game, but played this many times and works just about every time I have played this game.

Here's my take on that situation. I want to say his original Trainor had just passed. And Robin Givens. So between the depression and legal issues, I don't think he was focused. I watched the fight with micheal Spinks on pay per view. It took about 19 seconds before Spinks was looking up at the ring lights. Look up that fight on yt and compare it to the buster Douglas fight.

I have a funny story about that 007 373 5963. I saw it on a magazine by my friend's house whose dick older cousin was visiting him. I was about to leave home due to being late and my parents were strict about times back then when i was about 9 years old. I asked my pal for pen and paper to write down the code when the dick cousinbro intervened and told me that I had 30 seconds to look at the code and then I had to leave, no notes. I furiously memorised the code in that timeframe and I still remember it to this day. :)

Growing up in my neighborhood we all played outside every day. I would go outside & listen to hear which one of my friend's yards the guys were playing in. One day in Fall of 1987 I went outside & didn't hear anything. I rode my bike from house to house looking for the guys & couldn't find anyone. It was so weird, I'll never forget it. Finally one of my friend's parents told me everyone was at Mark's house. I didn't believe her because I had ridden past his house & no one was outside, but I went back & knocked on the door. Sure enough, EVERYONE in the neighborhood was in Mark's living room. What I didn't know is that Mark's parents had gotten him a Nintendo with Mike Tyson's Punch Out & everyone was taking turns playing. It's a memory that is burned into my brain's hard drive that I'll never forget, it was the day that changed everything.

They are uncommon, however not all that rare. There's a website called "Aurcade" that has a database of locations where you can find specific cabinets. If you are looking to own such a cabinet and you don't mind getting your hands dirty, you can pick up a Playchoice 10 cabinet which runs on the same hardware. Honestly, Nintendo went through the entire development process and at the end of the day, he was given $50,000 for HIS NAME. That’s the easiest $50k you can get. Can you imagine? Many people don’t even make that in a year. More importantly, according to an inflation calculator, it was more like $102k.. again, just for giving his name and sitting in on a commercial. That’s awesome.

My Grandparents asked us what we wanted for Christmas and we told them NES games because we only had the duck hunt/Mario combo that came with it. We were so happy they picked two of the most classic games ever Contra and Mike Tysons Punch out. We used to stay awake all night playing this game. My older brother was always the better of us. A lot of great memories from this period of my life. My grandma even played Mario 1 with me when we came back to the states. Different times for sure. So many people I think go back to this game to try and relive that period of time.
