I do like that this confirms that At Attin basically still believes themselves to belong to the Old Republic, and with that possibly the *really* Old Republic, so from around the Kotor times. Because if it has faded into myth, that takes time, that takes hundreds or thousands of years and considering that the owlcat-lady pulled out a *physical* map which is more or less unheard of in Star Wars where everything is on either computers or can be shown with holograms does point to that this planet has been "lost" for a good long while. So what i do like right now the most is the mystery behind the planet and what it even is, what is the suburban culture even trying to do there? So far, its been fun for me to watch. Also, i do like Jude Law so far, its exactly what i expected of him.

You’re refreshing to see on here. I tend to avoid Star Wars reviews on YT due to the overarching monetisation of “hating”which helps pay some people’s bills. Absolutely agree about pacing, I feel like streaming shows as a whole could play a little bit more fast and loose with episode lengths for pacing issues. They’d maybe gain/lose an episode but a better paced story for it. But I’m really enjoying this show.
@PseudowolfКүн бұрын
So here’s a thought: KB’s mom in this episode says she has urgent medical needs. There is also a hint that she might be force sensitive. What if who or whatever is running At Attin knows KB has that sensitivity and the “urgent medical needs” were just what her parents were told, but the truth is that the treatment for those supposed “needs” are actually just suppressing her force sensitivity somehow. And now that she’s not getting that treatment, it’s starting to manifest.
@ewok40kКүн бұрын
Interestingly enough, KB is my prime suspect for the force sensibility, too. The writers hide it well, making us believe she relies on the visor and math skills, and maybe she even rationalizes it that way herself... But what if she actually sensed the droid in the corridor? She also seemed to try and force communicate with the caged alien pet in the marketplace...

I'm noticing a lot of parallels with A New Hope that are subtle and done really well. You noted how the first episode's opening felt strongly reminiscent of the ANH opening with a pirate spin. But we also have 1) kid from a boring planet who longs for adventure, 2) sneaking around on a space station, 3) a rescue of someone from a space station, 4) kid who wanted adventure learning to shoot at the ships pursuing them as they try to escape. Jude Law's character, in this comparison, somehow mixes Han Solo and Obi Wan managing to be the scoundrel and the "wise" mysterious mentor that the longing-for-more kid looks up to. But, really, he's just a failed captain, and his own thing entirely. And thats really what I've been impressed by. Skeleton Crew is doing these parallels that are all too common in Star Wars media but they don't get in the way of the plot and characters developing naturally or being their own thing. Additionally, these allusions help foster the meta-narrative of how these kids are living the dreams of real life kids. You know, those of us who played Jedi with our friends at school and longed to go on a space adventure like Luke Skywalker did.

I've said it before: all these Disney+ shows, while it's nice to have a weekly thing to come back to, are presumably edited with the mindset of a binge watch because that's where the majority of it's views will be after the initial airing so a little slow moment isn't necessarily a bad thing it's an adjustment for the 75% of people who will only sign up from time to time, grind through a few series, and then cancel their subscription. What I think I liked most about this episode was how they took so many of the things people were theorizing about in the first two episodes and were like "Oh fine here, this is this, this, this, and this." Like the logos on their jackets were used to confirm the planet's existence rather than hung on to for another 4 episodes, or how the question of Jod's character reached a peak a lot quicker saying he never claimed to be a Jedi and demonstrating his rogue nature early. Even if the first 15 minutes of the next episode is focused on explaining his back story, it leaves the rest of the runtime to be more about the adventure... potentially.

Yes putting the kids in the ball turrets to shoot at cops is such fun, but in the real world would be a huge criminal offence. But we know it's ok in the Star Wars Galaxy. By the way it's 100 to 400 Billion stars in our galaxy, so not 'unlimited' as you mentioned, but still a lot.

Allen is easily my favourite Star Wars guru. And even though it probably demonstrates my shallowness or some other personality flaw, I gain satisfaction when Allen thinks the same thing as me. Andor is the gold standard and Skeleton Crew is fun af.

I like when the show relies on real world tropes... Is At Attin play on Atlantis? Kim the owlien is play on the symbol of wisdom.

At-Attin is like the ship in Walle where there's a droid at the top calling all the shots to protect the people like "Auto" on the Axiom.

Life is beautiful was an amazingly unique film in how it was absolutely depressing and funny all at once. And what dreams may come, as a kid the same scene of Robin Williams traveling through hell was mindblowing and terrifying.

This series is very influenced by Treasure Island which I’m surprised not many people have noticed.

SM33 is a laugh riot. I'd like to see some of the OG characters pop up as the story progresses. NO ENDOR EPISODES

I didn't like the first episode, and just thought the second episode was okay, but I really felt like Jude Law brought it together and made this episode enjoyable. Now I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

Please make a video about where that droid came from and whether he was asking if they won his battle or the whole war.

I'm really enjoying it so far, Jude Law is awesome and he really does contrast with the kids very well but simultaneously complements them. Aspects are over the top and silly but it works for what it is.

Does anyone wonder whether Wim's father might know more about the wider galaxy than he lets on? Like he might be a surviving member of that crashed, buried pirate ship the kids are in? Considering how he told the Safety Droids it's not safe outside the Barrier suggests he might know more about the wider galaxy than he lets on. The first two episodes also hinted that the pirate ship might be 'newer' that it appears with how it enterred Port Borgo without the automated gun turrets blasting it. Brutus asked his underlings how the kids' ship got past the port's gun turrets, suggesting that ship had a positive IFF transponder which is still valid, meaning it's not that old. Plus, the skeletons and stuff in the ship (and the food Silvo prepared and ate) appear to not be that old (like years or decades at most).

I am happy about your vid. There are a lot of the usual suspects that have literally crapped on this show because of the most senile reasons and they cannot get past that negativity no matter what show is playing. Your vid was extremely fair and relevant and has a positive outlook to it! good on you.

Tbh the sub-30 minute episodes grate a tad but it's a good watch so far imo.

Just to be clear: "Crimson Jack" is literally "The Dread Pirate Roberts" of Star Wars. (Franchise opportunities available in your Sector). Crimson Jack was first seen in the Marvel original series of SW Comics as a rogue and Pirate Leader partnered with the deadly eye-candy gunslinger Jolli. He was killed AFTER ANH in an EVA shootout by Han Solo during a Space Duel in a magnetically shielded field projected corridor between the Millenium Falcon and Crimson Jack's ship. Captain Silvo's many names including "Crimson Jack" just means that the Name Recognition legacy is worth preserving, no matter WHO bears the title in the NR Era. They double down on At Attin being an OLD Republic (not High Republic) cutoff colony.

SM33 = Mr Smee from Peter Pan. Why is no one asking what happened to Wim's mother or Fern's father. Seems odd to have two single parent children in the story, like, not a coincidence.

I like Kh'ymm. My wife and I felt like she was kind of derivative of the lost libraries, owl guardian in the Avatar. Though she is really more of an Owl/Cat, than just an owl.
