We really like your channel and enjoy every video.... It gives us inspiration to get a lot out of a little. It's easy to get lost in patches that are too big and you forget that less is often more. Thank you for your videos

@@star.trails We are a small creative team from Germany and we are divided into video, photo and sound design. We try to bring beautiful images and sounds into harmony. Our current series is Micro Modular and I try to get as much out of a 60 HP case as possible. Maybe you have time and can take a look ;) have a nice day and greetings from Germany

In the realm of Startrails, this generative patch unfurls like a celestial symphony. Marbles and Disting EX waltz in harmony, conjuring polyphonic enchantment from soft piano samples. Arbhar gently caresses our memories with its reversed piano notes, while the Mood pedal's fluttery notes, fused with reverb, spirit us away on an otherworldly odyssey. The 4MS Ensemble Osc's drone ascends like the dawn, and Pams Pro w/o guides this digital reverie with exquisite precision. As X-Pan elegantly sweeps across the soundstage, it bestows the final stroke on this sonic masterpiece. What an incredible voyage into the realm of sound and technology! Gratitude for sharing this auditory marvel.

piano sounds contemplative, lingering, and sweetly nostalgic. this would be a good track to be born to. like really - i could imagine listening to this in our birthing room with the monitor from the kiddo’s sonogram softly pulsing in the background. (fetal heartbeats pulse at around 143 bpm by the way)

this is such an interesting perspective, therapeutic use in an environment as you described could help with the physical and emotional states. There's so much power in music/sound that goes beyond just being listened to for enjoyment

sound (aka pressure sensation) is the second sense that humans evolved: both as the great descendents of single celled organisms and also its the second sense to be formed in the womb. (first being the chemical/olfactory). These structures develop far before visual, cortical, etc, and are wired directly to the limbic system, the seat of emotions. So, yup, to be able to fine tunedly modulate the sound inside a person’s headspace and turn it from whatever discordant anxiety riddled mess they came in as, you can effectively pull them out of that. this is what the newagers and singing bowl peeps do on that subconscious level whether they know it or not. but us, the modular dorks of the world, well our instruments look different - warmed by vacuum tubes and wires - and we all have an orchestral and meticulous command of the soundscape as we are… allowed to play in imaginary emotionscapes, accessing frequencies that go beyond the bowl would be fun to use one of the slots on this for an oscilloscope reading so we all know what frequencie we are collectively vibing on @@star.trails

I love how you reply with all these fascinating pieces of information, I really appreciate it. I don't have a decent oscilloscope at hand currently. I can run this through a spectrum analyser, it will display the amplitude of all the frequency components in the signal. Could be a fun exercise @@madscientrix
@star.trails
@star.trails 10 ай бұрын
I just did a rough and dirty analysis and these were the frequencies with the highest amplitude from low to high: 130Hz, 164Hz, 180Hz, 260Hz, 318Hz, 420Hz, 432Hz, 560Hz, 700Hz, 1.07kHz, 2.54kHz and 6.15kHz

@@star.trails I’m so pumped you did this! There’s a vid in my history somewhere I will dig out for you when I’m not on my phone. It was a hypnosis/naturopathic practitioner and musician who broke down the different frequencies used in new age and what they did to the body on a deep level. I am so pumped that this conversation has stimulated me to look for that info again.

Thanks so much! I have two cases, a Pittsburgh EP 420 (the case in this video) and a smaller 7U 84HP Intellijel case filled with Tip Tip Buchla modules. The Make Noise case I had that was used in many of my earlier videos is no longer with me. I have done a lot of rehousing of modules this past year from the various cases

Beautiful stuff. I’ve had it on repeat all day while sitting in my chair in between shoulder rehab sessions. Question: Did you mess with the stereo spread settings in Disting? Or is this just plug and play? Also, can you expound a bit on how EnsOsc is functioning in this patch? How often are you changing pitches? Are they random (quantized) pitches? Or is it a sequence? Is it just 1 pitch? I can hear the effect, but can’t quite hear it in isolation. Thanks.
@star.trails
@star.trails Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much - makes me happy to hear this. Regarding the Disting EX, yes I did set the stereo spread on the voices (about 85%). With the Enso, a slow LFO sine (heavily attenuated) from Pams Pro w/o is going into the Enso root CV. Here the oscillators shift their frequency upward/downward, seamlessly blending between notes within the scale.

This is really beautiful. Could you explain how you’re integrating Mood with euro please?
@star.trails
@star.trails Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Mood is positioned at the end of the chain. When I was setting up the patch I grabbed some piano early on and set the loop to stretch. Mood is mixing the loop and eurorack case 50/50. I'm using some of the reverb from the mood to wet the entire signal path before it enters my audio interface for recording.

@@star.trails thanks you so much for your reply. It's a lovely piece as usual. I love Mood and I've been thinking of ways to incorporate it with my Eurorack but I was after a sort of send and return deal.

Is the clock going into Marbles from pams steady? :)
@star.trails
@star.trails 6 ай бұрын
For this patch Marbles is using it's own internal clock. Pams is sending two CV's to Marbles. One CV (slow sine) is going into rate and another CV (also slow sine) going into X bias.
