Good update, especially with updating masks! Thank you!

Thank you for the deeper dive. I've had a few of the problems you covered, and my mistake was doing the mask first. It's nice to know that you can update the mask. At times, it still seems to have trouble (less now), but this is the first version. What a powerful tool for Lightroom. I'm picky, and no one covers advanced techniques like you!

Thanks so much! I have never used the AI functions with Lightroom Classic. The updating masks after removing objects were so helpful! Cheers!

I did not know about removal before masking. I have also found that the masks can also interfere with the color adjustments too. On the other hand, a subject mask can adjust and remove from the background very well. For example, i use lens blur on the background pretty often.

This tool was not working well for me, but I was able to solve the problem. I cropped the image first then I used the removal tool. It resulted in not removing the enter object. I removed the crop and tried it again. It worked wonderfully. thank you for the video

Thanks Collin for more great tips - It's OK for quick edits but still prefer to jump into Photoshop for anything further, also it's really slow compared to photoshop and a little more clumsy in this early access state. But like I said - a great time saver for quick fixes and great tool to have within Lightroom.

Great video. I like the masking update. Couldn't you use Gen Remove again on the sand in the first example to create a sharper area instead of the clone tool?

Its still lacking resolution, unless you are applying it in smaller areas, then yes

Thanks Colin for the quick response. I went over you video again to make sure I was ding it right and it still didn't work. So I uninstalled, rebooted my computer, and re-installed LR Classic. Same problem. My MAC laptop is 7 years old but I've haven't had any other issues so I don't think it's the computer. Thanks again for everything you do.

Interestingly I used this technique on a few of my images and the AI left "ghosting" artifacts, thoughts? ie. the previous- in this case person, was still faintly visible...In PS terms 30 percent opacity. In PS i do not have this same issue.

My results are very bad. I used only for remove small areas that are left in photo corners, like a bit of a chair, or a table or a foot or some small debris. And the IA generates more of the thing I want to remove. For example I have a small rock in the corner of a grass floor. Select and generate, and it gives me more rocks or different rocks. I still need to go to photoshop to get better results.

Gr8 video Colin. I`m still converned about this 1024 resolution thing though. Is there any way to improve this, like you did with your Action in Photoshop to improve the quality, or when printing, have you still got to go over to Photoshop and remove objects using that Action that you gave us all? Cheers Colin
@sounderdavis54466 ай бұрын
Usually I'm not removing big elements, and a soft background after removing a distracting element is not an issue for most of my images. But when it is, and when I can't clone in sharper background as Colin shows in this video, I can usually avoid the problem by removing smaller chunks in multiple passes, or using Remove in PS. But then my Raw files are only about 23 MB. A photog with a 55 MB full-frame sensor will run into this issue more often than I.
@photoshopcafe6 ай бұрын
Use for smaller objects than say 1500px which is 5 inches at 300ppi. 1024 is obviously perfect, but you can usually sneak a little extra. For larger distractions, use Photoshop
