Generic 4K Camcorder? I put it to the test!

Usually these no name 4k camcorders video quality looks like it was filmed with a potato, but this one is not half bad especially considering what you paid.

I'm playing with my 4K Ultra camcorder now and you're right - these models take a multitude of model names, BUT, I found out that the best setting to use with these generic camcorders is the 1080p setting because that 4K video setting is indeed a false claim. - James D Watkins artistic director of Phoenix Productions.

It wasn't as bad as I thought for 30 bucks. Certainly wouldn't pay 100 bucks. But if all my other cameras failed (or were stolen), I could probably monkey-rig a ND filter to the front. At 27fps, can't for certain be sure if the video stuttering I was seeing was from that frame-rate or because you were using EIS outside (if I recall correctly). Always enjoy your episodes.. cheers.. btw .. DOn't know if you lost some weight or had an haircut.. but visually you look different (in a good way.. lol).. CHEERS!

Wow, that's surprisingly half-decent, I was expecting it to be the usual 320p interpolated rubbish. No way is it a genuine 4k but it is usable.

Agree that it probably upscaled to create 4K files. It would be helpful to know what chipset is used with this camera, but the details are not in the User's Manual.

@@ThriftyAV It's probably using the same 5 megapixel CMOS image sensor that almost all of these cheap no-name camcorders have used since the late 2000s. You can tell by the way the exposure jumps up and down in steps rather than smoothly adjusting to the lighting.

This camcorder looks no better than 1080p but it seems decent for the price.

While you have gotten your monies worth and then some, you also need to consider is what just a few more dollars might get you.

Absolutely, Yes. Adjustable/auto focus instead of fixed focus. Optical zoom instead of digital zoom. Better EIS. Better sensors and chipsets. Better audio. Spending more money usually means getting a better product, and I have reviewed better camcorders on my channel, but I made this video for a specific reason. For several years I've seen low cost "4K" camcorders similar to this one on Amazon, Banggood, Aliexpress, etc. If I have been curious about this type of camera, others may feel the same way. When this cam showed up so cheap on eBay, I figured it was time to make this video, knowing that I will probably never use this camera again after publishing this video.

Yea but they're also many times the price. Remember the camera is $30 You may still find a better used camera for $30 but this is probably the best you can do for a brand new camera for $30

My various android phones are better as well. This cam was a wasted $30, but I've seen cams like this on AliExpress, Banggood, and eBay, and I was curious.

@@JessicaFEREM it's not "brand new" .... it costs about $100 in china ... but even for a $30 camera, there are action cams with same quality and small form factor!!!
