superb audio- the best yet for a live version of this song i've heard.

So amazing to realize that at that time , they played in so "small" venues !! It all began later on, though they were so great musically then and before....

Superb audio, Tony's keyboards sound fabulous. Best of the Collins era

One of my favorite Genesis songs. I know the lyrics are a bit whimsical but when that Mellotron kicks in on the album version, it blows me away! Love this rarely played live version too 💜

I love Tony Banks' "whimsical" stories! The lyrics on this and songs like A Trick Of The Tail, The Lady Lies, One For the Vine, are way better than what he wrote for better known tracks like Firth of Fifth and Cinema Show for example.

The album version uses a Roland string synth combined with the Hammond, not a Mellotron.

This is the song I play to someone who wants to discover Genesis. In a few minutes, everything is there. A little story ; the predominance of keyboards ; Steve's guitar playing. An underrated piece of music.

The dark horse of Wind and Wuthering. It's a great track. Could have been on the Trick LP. Hackett's outro solo is spine tingling! That transition from C-E flat minor to e minor is brilliant!

This is GREAT - a very musical version of the album track. Feels more vibrant and alive - the song not the mouse

This is actually from the Rainbow Jan 2nd show. I can’t understand why this song - and particularly this version - isn’t more popular. It has everything that made Genesis so uniquely great.

This has actually been labeled for being recorded at the Rainbow (2nd January 1977) but I don't think it is. There have been many different opinions about this issue over the last 20 years, and I'm pretty much going along with the YT User "KieranIsHome" which does explain why this can't be from that specific show. He did the same I did, by comparing the bootlegs, audio recordings from people in the audience on that day, or even on 1st, and 3rd of January, and none of those audios are even close to what we hear on this soundboard record. So I did the same conclusion to it as "KieranIsHome" and choose also the Leicester date here, not saying that it still could be somewhere else. The only thing that is sure, is that those tracks were first broadcasted on March, 20th, 1977 as part of the "British Biscuit".

Yes this is the Leicester show, i attended both Leicester and Rainbow concerts, the later shows were better because the new material had been "played in" and Chester had time to learn the material better ❤

A fantastic version, in its element ‘live’. The quirky lyrics seem to mark this song down for many too many, but as a piece of music showcasing the power and musical genius of the band live, it is indeed all there. The outro is sublime.

This is so much fuller live. But then again, all their songs were fuller, richer in the live performances.
