We did a recent comparison with this brown GV70 - here’s the detailed look at this diesel Genesis in a single car test context.

I just worry with Korean cars how quickly they change the exterior looks. Makes it really obvious when you are driving a 3 yr old Korean car.

@@73willyg That is a worry but I think they've invested a lot to get this design so they may do slight nips and tucks only.

Wow! I’m truly impressed, hyundai motors have come quite a long way. The luxury, performance and the premium feel that you get across the whole genesis lineup is amazing! Genesis is also quite a bit cheaper than a BMW, Mercedes or a Audi and I would much rather get a Genesis than a BMW, Mercedes or Audi for sure. Great review Tom!

I like Genesis’ approach to car building. There isn’t a clear cut “trim” hierarchy, apart from the drivetrain options, and even then, one isn’t necessarily better than the others. Lumping into packs is also a good way of doing options, as the average consumer wouldn’t really spend time adding in or changing every little thing. I’d say it’s similar to how VW does theirs. Seems they’re really pivoting on the build-to-order scheme of car buying, A small nitpick would be that some interior colours are locked into the options pack (I think the tan can’t go with the sports pack, for example), but I’ll be darned if the GV70 doesn’t fly off of the showrooms!

You have to look at the beige interior with the two-tone steering wheel (which you can only get from the luxury package and not the sports package). It’s just next level beautiful.

Thanks Tom, at last your comments on the GV70 2.2 Diesel luxury, l have been waiting, been driving mine now for one month and lm in love, fuel economy is just amazing as you stated Tom, l am driving Gold Coast to Cleveland (Bay area) 3 times a week via M1 and some minor roads through Mount cotton etc ,getting 6.5 per 100, thats using Comfort and sports mode, very impressive, will try eco mode to see if it can get that even further down, but do enjoy the Sports mode, your seat gently hugs you as you accelerate giving you that sense of excitement. Cudos Genesis.

Tom you keep commenting on your confusion with the front passenger seat having side mounted electric control switches on the inside. As a chauffeur, these switches are the best thing since sliced bread as they allow you to adjust the seat from the drivers position… giving you the ability to offer the rear passenger more leg room or moving the front seat back if you have someone deciding that they want to jump in the front and you the driver are already in the car and the front seat is out of position

You're on a roll Tom with all your recent car reviews. When are you planning to review the GV70 2.5T RWD? Have you perhaps asked Genesis if they can look at including a space saver tyre in the 2.2d of the GV70? Looking forward to the Kia Sorento hybrid in early 2022. Let's see how it fares vs the Kluger hybrid.

Gorgeous cars, but I think they missed the boat by not offering the 3L diesel as the top spec diesel option. Could have directly competed with the 3L Q5. Also a shame they cut the passenger seat functions down as stated in the video. For the price of these vehicles, and extra 1500 or so on top to really finish those options would have just finished it. Great in depth reviews, keep up the great work.

The only kids that would play with the front seat buttons from the back seat are kids without dicipline. My Kid would not think about it. And will be glad when he grows up he had parents that taught him RESPECT for others.

I do hope that they can offer that road preview adaptive suspension as an option for the diesel and other variants as an option instead of just having it on the V6 because quite frankly, not everyone needs the v6, the 2.5T and diesel suit most people and some of us do want a better ride instead of the fix rated steel suspension tune.

I pre-ordered the 2022 Lexus NX 350 Turbo AWD F Sport with 275bhp, 317 lb ft of torque and 8 speed automatic. Is it worth considering the GV70? Is Genesis as reliable as Lexus?
@AI-qd4vb
@AI-qd4vb 2 жыл бұрын
Reliability is better considered car by car, and not brand by brand. That Lexus will be brand new, so dont expect it to be as reliable as their old models either. Current gen Lexus LS has had some major issues too... Enough to make Lexus drop from no 1 spot in some indexes for the first time in a long while. These Genesis could perfectly be as reliable even though the Hyundai group is not that solid. Infinitis are also quite reliable even though Nissan is not. So you see, its not that much the brand, but each car in particular.
@xendroid5063
@xendroid5063 2 жыл бұрын
@@AI-qd4vb I've always predicted this.. die hard Lexus fans seem offended by even the suggestion that Lexus maybe going down the reliability scale. The reason they are not as reliable is the same reason the Germans are constantly being put down.. Electronics... The more electronics the lesser the reliability. This is the same reason Toyota keeps dragging its feet to update their cars...

I used to always have a good stereo and drive to music. With the onset of children, I now prefer ear plugs and silence :-). With the exception of the earplugs, I actually prefer no music/radio now and listening to the vehicle and the world go by. Get more enjoyment from the calm. Stereo for me is not a high priority.

Love your reviews - informative, considered and practical, but please, please can we get some other footage of the cars driving other than endlessly trundling around the same 2 corners at a complete dawdle. Let's see the car purposefully turned into some corners, see how the car handles undulations at reasonable speed on a straight, a sweeping section of road or two - just basic shots to view the car dynamics in the real world. I watch your reviews, however it has been so frustrating to see such irrelevant footage during the drive section.

I had a test drive of GV70 today, standard suspension (2.5T). Now, I am a commuter. 2-3 hours driving each day. Currently on Merc B200 CDI. I can drive this car for 4 hr non stop and still not tired. If I drove GV70 on that scale I would be dead in a week time! List of problems: 1. Short seats for long legs and not enough angle in the bottom seat setting, so there is no support for ~1.9m+ tall drivers' legs. Not acceptable for my purpose. 2. Drive is harsh on tiny bumps, basically ALL THE TIME your body will be shocked with tiny hits and kicks. This is a deal breaker for me. 3. Car does not drive straight, not settled, little steering always required, this is adding to driver's fatigue. This happens in some very cheaply made cars only... not acceptable. 4. Crappy resolution 3D Instrument cluster, 14'' screen, head-up display, climate panel - all together is blinking different styles! This is a mess, way too busy. Poorly sorted driver's attention ergonomics. 5. Plastic squeaks while cornering on a rougher surface. Body rigidity is not properly designed... 6. Lightweight Hyundai doors... just another leather wrapped Hyundai for $90K!

Brisbane & Gold Coast show rooms to be open soon. They did a weekend at the palazzo, Southport a couple of months ago, that when l purchased mine, staff were incredible professional, it has been difficult for them as many of the vehicles are in Sydney or Melbourne, mine came up from Melbourne, but delivered to my home in the stated 4 weeks with a Genesis rep to give us a much time as we needed to give us a run down on all the tech. Hang in there D Smith you will not be disappointed.
