there is a little more going on here aside from PETSCII. the smooth scrolling and color cycling and animation has to be assembler.

Okay, so I'm guessing the smooth scrolling is done by moving the screen by one pixel row/column, then back to its initial position when it's scrolled one complete block and shifting all characters to the next row/column and repeating?

API? It's hardware feature to shift screen 0-7 pixels as welm as generate raster interrupts used to split screenmodes
