I love that Phil just had a little bit to add vocally, just a little tone, he wasn't looking for the glory of lead singer. I do love Genesis in all their incarnations. Never fail to make me 'content' with my lot. 😊

I don't think he would enjoy performing this song. It's an amazing one, but the lyrics've gotten heavier nowadays, specially because now he is really an old man.
@Sileithel10 жыл бұрын
Peter looks SO scary as an old man. When he goes back on stage with the mask on, all bent and sort of munching, he really evokes in me all the disgust and fear that a perverted old man would. The mask is very simple but very effective, and even through it, his expressions are spot on, his wild eyes terribly creepy. I shiver with disgust when he says "let me get to know your flesh"... Awesome performance.

Such a frightening piece of prog rock. Not really something I can openly enjoy. If I told my friends that one of my favorite songs is about an old man ghost boy attempting to you-know-what a 9-yr-old girl, they'd probably look at me with some concern.
@Sileithel3 жыл бұрын
@@SirCamera Agreed. With years I've become less tolerant of such sensitive topics treated lightly in lyrics, so I don't enjoy this piece as much as used to do years ago. The music I still love, though. The same can be said about much of XX century music anyway.

As if Peter had known 50 years ago, where Genesis ends with Phil, as an old man.
@marianocuevas3634 жыл бұрын
@@landeribiza yo no alardeo . Yo he admirado muchisimo a Gabriel.

Yo amo a Phil.

peter gabriel is a bit of a weirdo, but look at performers now-a-days and how weird some of them are. seems to me he just didnt wanna stand there during long instrumental passages and do nothing. i agree with pederhed, gabriel was one of the first popular singers that was a very visual entertainer and because of him a lot of performers today emulate a trend he started back in the 70's.

Just for the record, that's not an organ. It's a Hohner Pianet being played through a fuzztone. In fact, when I first heard this song on Genesis Live, I thought that was a second guitar solo I was hearing. I couldn't figure out how they could be getting three guitar parts live as well as what seemed to be an organ part. But I figured out when I saw the Belgian TV footage. I think Tony said he started using the fuzz during the quartet era, just after Anthony Phillips left.
