This is a good game to use as an example of how to make a particular console's audio chip really sing if the programmer knows their shit. People still argue over the sound quality between the Genesis and SNES and the fact of the matter is, there is both amazing AND shitty music on BOTH consoles. It all depends on the programmer in question and their level of skill and familiarity with the hardware.

Always thought the last one was a weird thing to have...it would make sense in an arcade since the power would be on all day (high score lists reset when the power is turned off) but why would a console have a high score list since after you beat the game you would turn the console off?

The SNES instruments are better and the MD has more complexity. So they sort of level each-other out with music. One of the main reasons the SNES version is considered better is because of the extra level. The graphics fit better on the SNES with it's brighter feel and tone, it represents the artstyle better that the murky dark colours of the MD. This IS just MY personal opinion, but the SNES version is better than the MD version if you count up the pros. Of course, the SNES version has some cons, but they are mostly found on the MD version too. (Also, for those of you that don't know, the Genesis was called the Mega Drive in the UK, so that is why I put MD.)
@KillyRR5 жыл бұрын
Here in Germany it was called Mega Drive too. I think only the US used the name Genesis in the rest of the world its called Mega Drive.
@KillyRR5 жыл бұрын
Why is the US doing that? Well Genesis does what Nintendont sounds better^^

They are 2 completely different games.
@TheMineralRecord4 жыл бұрын
Probably unpopular and biased opinion but I’ve played both and prefer Hyperstone Heist. The sound alone, is far and away better than the SNES version. The SNES version is still good and has a sort of feel that if you grew up with it, you’d definitely feel was definitive but man, the genesis version is so much crisper and clearer in its sound. The SNES soundtrack almost sounds muffled, like it’s being played through a pillow. And the Genesis exclusive tracks like Inside Shredder’s Hideout @13:03 completely nail the vibe. I find the sprites on Turtles In Time kinda washed out and less defined than in HH. There’s not enough contrast between the character and the background. And while TIT has more levels, I find the ones exclusive to that game were mostly just reaches to put the player in oddball settings that otherwise wouldn’t be usable in a story without time travel. It’s a nitpick to be sure, but I just didn’t really feel like I missed out on much playing HH as the fighting in HH was very fast-paced and tight (dash moves were excellent). I’m not meaning to dog TIT because it’s an amazing game, I just think it’s supposed “clear superiority” is very much debatable and often colored by which you played first. Full disclosure though, I played HH before TIT (though I played the arcade game which was amazing before either).
