Behold: the ending video to a Dead Space successor we've never played. This is professional quality storytelling, full stop. Additional note: 'Reasonable Inquisitor is Reasonable' always brings a smile to my face. Take note writers: we the audience don't need to know what the enemy could not have, because that doesn't matter to us. What matters is that Nicola and Katyrin are safe. Side note writers: This is also why you can't simply kill them off for 'extra grimdark', because it changes this from a tragic story of heroism we will remember and retell, into yet another shaggy dog story to be forgotten in the dust of time.

That is wonderful lore reading, hauntingly tragic. I wonder what the Inquisitor needed Symon to deny the cult. My primary guess is the planet itself, since a successful Day of Ascension means the Tyranids are close behind. Better to deny the hive fleet a whole planet's worth of biomass at the cost of a single family, than allow the bugs to resupply. Incredible video. I feel proud to play the bug boys.

This video is so well done. A lot of people that like WH40k or grimdark or dystopian fiction don't understand the core feature of a dystopian fiction, but this work does. This video shows an understanding of what lies at the core of Dystopian fiction and truly masterful grimdark. The ONE thing that all stories of this genre need. Hope. The core thing to all dystopian fictions, to all works that are set in worlds of despair, is hope. Hope that even though this world the characters live in is awful, abusive, merciless, or soul crushing, that there is a better world, a better life, just beyond the horizon. That hope is a false hope. The reader knows it is. The author knows it is. The characters do not. The characters have to hope. They have to hope, and struggle, and strive for a better tomorrow. They must fight for the belief in something more than what today is. Hope is what is key to all dystopian fictions. Without hope a dystopian fiction is nothing. Just as every Utopian fiction has, at its core, darkness, so too must dystopian fictions have their counterpart within them. Darkness within the light, and light within the darkness. This character is so good not just because he stood up in the face of despair. He is strong not just because he choose to do what he did. He does his duty not just for the Emperor of Mankind and the Imperium. He does it out of hope. Hope that his wife might find love once more. Hope that his daughter can live a decent life. Hope that someone will reach out to save him and his. A hope that we know is false. A lie that we, those outside looking in, know can never be true but must be upheld.

Damn.. this story was so good. The voice acting was brilliantly done and the dialogue was chilling. Great work on the sound design, ambient music, and redacting of information when the Inquisitor was mentioned. This is truly some chilling stuff. The Genestealer Cult can spread fear in ways that the Ruinous Powers and other Xenos threats can't even possibly replicate. It's one thing when you know you're enemy, but to see family, friends, coworkers, and associates; the entire population slowly and subtly transformed into grotesque monstrosities that have no form of morality. Pseudo-humans that seek ascension by their foul Patriarchs and the greater extensions of the Tyranid Hive. Where we see horrifying, blood thirsty and ravenous creatures, the Genestealer Cult members see angels, saviors, and saints; descending from the skies to spread retribution and absolution. They speak to the cult members, saying that their time has come to join the great host and to be one with the galaxy... that their heaven can and will be made manifest. The Genestealer Cult preys on the vices and grudges of wronged men, women, and children. The downtrodden, disgraced, and forgotten. From the scum of the planet, to the highest offices of bureaucracy, the cult slowly climbs into more influential positions, at least until the signal is given.
