No need to large calculation... Here just want the frequency of recessive b allele in a population one generation after selection! We know, Change frequency q1(b)=(q_sq^2)÷(1-sq^2) Here, s= selection coefficient q=gene frequency of b allele before selection We know, Selection coefficient+ relative fitness= 1 Or, s+ r.f= 1 So, s =1-r.f=1-.4=.6 Now, New frequency q1(b) =(1-.6*. 7^2)÷(1-. 6*.7^2)= .575 So the new freqyency of b allele one generation after selection=.575

How will you explain this question! How Hardy Weinberg law is related to one locus and two alleles?

Slection, in biology, the preferential survival and reproduction or preferential elimination of individuals with certain genotypes (genetic compositions), by means of natural or artificial controlling factors.

It helps a POPULATION to survive and not one particular organism.

How is this problem different if you're taking into account finding the expected frequencies for zygotes vs. adults? Strong selection is one possible reason for a population deviating from Hardy-Weinberg equilibriumgenotype frequencies. In an infinite population of two-spotted spider mites, there is a bi-allelic locus with two alleles, A and a. Allele A is completely dominant to the a allele. Spider mites are sexually reproducing, have non-overlapping generations, random mating and equal reproductive success. However, there is differential viability among embryos such that aa individuals survive to reach reproductive age at 80% the survival rate as AA individuals. a) If the frequency of the A allele is 0.7 A in generation 1 adults, what are the expected frequencies of the three genotypes in generation 2 zygotes?(2 points) b) What are the expected genotype frequencies of generation 2 adults?(2 points) c) What is the frequency of the A allele in the generation 2 adults? (2 points). This is part of the problem just to get an idea of what I mean. I don't need the answer just need to know what the differences is.

I think that part a is what you did and i know reproductive adults are p' but i don't get how to solve for p'.

I am here for the first time and you are brilliant in explaining everything... I would also like to give you some questions from genetics which I am not able to solve and haven't found any answer from any sources... I would be grateful if you could help me.. please reply. Xoxo☺️
