Even ALL these years later, this clip STILL makes me cry. I remember exactly where I was when this episode came on. I'll bet there are millions others who also remember. This was a once in a lifetime happening. Soaps were big then, and this scene propelled General Hospital into infinity, if I may be that corny. It is a scene for the ages, never to be repeated, with lots of history behind it, and years of new stories ahead. And Genie Francis is still on General Hospital --- 2019.

I know right? I was a wee teenager when I started watching the show halfway during Genie Francis' absence (after she went missing following her wedding to Luke) if I'm not mistaken. And yes I cried when I found and watched this clip; they sure don't make them like that anymore. I think all soap operas should've called it quits in the mid 90's just about when it started getting boring and/or redundant.

I won't ever forget growing up watching this like a religion. When Genie Francis left in 1982, I still continued to watch, praying every day she would return and L&L would be a couple again. When she finally did after a year and a half, that scene where Luke finally spots her walking on the mansion's grounds and his reaction was one of the best moments in TV history.

In his case, ride off in a gondola in Stockholm... the man is superhuman! There are Oscar winners that don't give us performances such as this...and he brought it day after day after day...just for us. Small trivia.. they fired Genie from All My Children so she could come back to GH and ground Luke. He was flailing without her. Think about that..are there any other actors that connect and function in sync like this? Resonating at the same high level of energy? I don't know any. They were a miracle. Has anyone ever seen "the mini series "North and South"? She played Brett Main...Patrick Swayzes baby sister..She was Terriffic on that too! She was and is still the best! Laura and Kevin just don't work for me! I still watch GH BUT sadly, it can't even come close to the way it was back then!!If it weren't for Sonny Corinthos, Carly, Robert Scorpio, Monica Q and Bobbie Spencer, I would just hang it up! This damn SHILO storyline is pure shit, and Micharl Q won't be getting his son back until he is full grown apparently...ENOUGH ALREADY!! Oh, I forgot Epiphany and Diane Miller...they are 2 really great ones also! # I find intolerable is MAXIE YUCK, JAX ASSHOLE, and Scotty has not changed at all. He is STILL an ASSWIPE...always was and always will be!! As a matter of fact, so are the current WRITERS!!

I was so hooked on the Luke and Laura story line, from the beginning of their time on the run; Left Handed Boy thing to the end of this return sequence. I never missed an episode and I had 3 small children at home at the time. I remember vividly thinking that Luke was the reason I loved it. But, when GF left the show and Luke was without Laura it was such a surprise to me. I just didn't enjoy it nearly as much without her. I heard TG say in an interview that the world needed Laura to complete Luke. I think he was right. I stopped watching shortly after this return set of shows was over and I never watched it again. But, these YT episodes bring back such memories. There has never been anything, any other performance like Tony Geary's desperate love for Laura. I am not sure he ever got the accolades he was due. Of course, Genie Francis was also brilliant as Laura and he needed her so that he could BE Luke. Anyway, it was fun to see it again.

That gaudy medallion Stavros puts around Laura's neck looks like something Stavros won in an arcade. In-universe it's probably worth a fortune but holy hell that thing is gaudy. Usually I love all the trinkets and jewels associated with the Cassadines, but that silly thing is just bizarre.

It's now 2022 and Genie is still on GH. Laura is now the mayor if PC and even though she & Luke moved on from each other, which btw would not have happened if Laura had not suffered mental illness, it was still obvious that no matter what had transpired or who they were with they ALWAYS had each other to depend on NO questions asked. The producing & writing were a part of that magic but it was the clear, instantaneous chemistry between GF & TG that brought Luke & Laura to life for all of us old timers. Now Stavros is back and supposedly killed Luke (off screen) but made it look like an accident. They had tracy (yuck!!) tell Laura about Luke's "death" but most fans don't buy it. I hope it's part of a bigger plan set up by the GH producer's to have TG come back for a bit in order to save his angel from Stavros once & for all. I know TG won't come back permanently but it would be great to see him & GF work together again and be able to reminisce about their life & how they met over 40 yrs ago!!!
