Might sound silly, but I really liked seeing him make a mistake right at the start... proves he's not some perfect, infallible machine, he's a human and capable of messing up like any human, the important thing being that he still almost never does.

How does Derek interpret the avante-garde jazz works of the 60s (eg. Sun Ra), some of the more recent jazz artists (eg. Tigran Hamasyan, Hiromi, Cory Henry), and the various post-tonal (but still kind of tonal/modal) contemporary classical composers (eg. Steve Reich, Rautavaara, Del Tredici)? I'm also curious how Derek would interpret completely atonal music (eg. Schoenberg, Stockhausen).
