no he's not. a true music artist remembers the sentiment of their lyric. because their music is like their baby, especially for like punk-rock type bands that aren't 'sell-outs' or whatever that is, from back in early 00s days. the context may be different, especially a decade later because in general, growing up, but the sentiment of the meaning behind the lyric is still there. that's what i think, anyway.

well yeah he probably wrote this song while he was full of raw emotion back in his more depressing and suicidal days, it's sometimes hard to remember what exactly you were feeling about something when you look back on you writing from your emotions later on. not to mention it was released ELEVEN YEARS AGO. that shit would be hard to remember or pinpoint for a lotta ppl

Patrick said it in an interview that Pete talks like this. Like in metaphors and analogies. He's so used to it that he understands what Pete is trying to get across in their music. And even though Pete is the lyricist, he sends Patrick _lines_ , not the actual lyrics of a whole song. Patrick forms the lyrics within the song he has in mind and writes the lyrics that rolls off better in your tongue when you sing it. Also, Patrick said in an interview that 'Thnks fr th mmrs' was a whole completely different song from what they had in mind when they worked with Babyface. Babyface produced this song that's why it has more variety than a simple pop punk song. It's not that the meaning is lost but their original conception for this song may have been buried with all the r&b and string influence that even Pete won't remember what the song originally meant.

I feel like I’m crazy. Am I the only person that know exactly what he means? I know the feelings he’s trying to express. He’s not explaining the literal meaning of the song, he’s trying to use analogies to explain how it feels to be in the story he is telling. It’s a song about the anxious feeling of uncertainty, and regret from finding out that things aren’t what they are meant to be. In the song, he has a hard time conveying his real self, so it leads to these shallow relationships, like one night stands, or gossip magazine pictures. This same anxiety makes him worry about the future, but he can only look back on his regrets in the past, and watch as a helpless observer. To make himself feel better, he goes out to these parties to find girls, but it never brings him the happiness that it is meant to, and thus repeating this cycle.

He’s talking about how fear is irrational, inconsistent. The things that scare us sometimes aren’t as scary as we know them to be. That’s what the whole song is about, this illusion that things are never how they seem. So how the parties are supposed to be nice, but actually vapid and pointless, the “lovers” that aren’t real relationships, the feeling of being able to only look back on your life, helpless like an observer. That’s what he means.

For me their lyrics it were kinda an escape from religion and so-called holy books, because those are also very vague and not precise at all. The big difference is that talking about the meaning of life and the beginning of the world is not comparable with writing songs about breakup.

@ByeByeDeadName
@ByeByeDeadName 6 жыл бұрын
The meaning is that a groom overheard that his bride to be is cheating on him right before the wedding starts and everyone knew except him. He tries to joke around and be nonchalant to cover up for the fact he’s on the verge of freaking out. Ryan probably wrote the because a lot of “fever” was just him telling stories. I love that song but it doesn’t need a genius video for it, it’s not complex at all.

Why do we have to have this argument over and over? Pete writes the lyrics for the songs! He confirmed it in a recent interview. When he talks about Patrick and Joe writing, he means the music. Joe also confirmed that Pete writes the lyrics in a recent fan Q&A he alone did. You can look it up on KZbin. Here's the quote from the interview with Pete. The link is below. CDM: Do you still write all of the lyrics for all Fall Out Boy songs? PETE: Yeah, pretty much. I think sometimes Patrick will move stuff around, but yeah, it's all from this strange mind. www.coupdemainmagazine.com/fall-out-boy/13960

You have keep in mind that back when he made these songs from when he was 20 something he had things going on with himself which would lead up to him possibly not remembering- it happens when you block certain things out to forget the memory or the pain- and it was years ago, he could remember what it's about and just doesn't want to talk about it since it could have been a hard time in his life.

Dakota Kilgore Saturday was written by Patrick about being scared of what comes after high school, but how he found comfort in the fact that Pete (and his band) were always going to be there for each other. "Two more weeks, my foot is in the door, I can't sleep, in the wake of Saturday, me and Pete, in the wake of Saturday."

All these comments with people saying they're "confused" or "don't understand". I understood everything they saying, from the intro to end. You can tell Pete is really in touch with the world and how everything works around him.

Why so much hate for this? Just embrace it. Maybe he just wanted to chat about this song - who knows? Though I thought this song meaning was completely different than everything he said ...

Different isnt bad. You cant keep expecting them to make the same music forever and not get bored, its wht artists do. Tbh there are very minimal differences between the pop punk genre they were carrying the mantle of and the pop that they are producing now. Its fair enough if you dont like their music, but in terms of making good music, thats subjective and a lot of the people who may have not like older fall out boys stuff may love this stuff just the same, and some people will love both, music is subjective so dont labelit not good because you dont like it.
