glockGotaDick Clout Cobain was about the industry and how some rappers are affected by it. Record Labels, help you get all the flashy cars and women that you rap about, but in turn you don’t have any freedom. That line wasn’t meant to be taken seriously, hence the circus theme, it’s a depiction of the dumb shit rappers always brag about. It’s less about him wanting to commit suicide but a reference to Cobain and how he was suicidal and pairing it with suicide doors on an expensive car. It also points out how people can’t catch onto certain things, until it’s too late.

Kid Cudi seems like the only one in this video that was legitimately inspired by Kurt
@joeruiz4010 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. All the others like Kurt's iconic image and how transcendent he was across music genres. Kurt was like Jimi Hendrix and Elvis Presley in that regard. Kid Kuddi is a fan of, and influenced by Rock Music. He's a multi-instrumentalist and it's fully incorporated into his music. That being said, Kurt and Nirvana as a whole; you heard the multi-genre influences they had in their Music. Blues, Punk, Metal, Heartland, Country, Hard Rock. Grunge descends from those genres. Rap and Hip-Hop today is complete stagnant and is all about following trends. Totally different from the 80s and 90s.

Makes sense. West Coast/East Coast rivalry was brewing, was making airwaves. Grunge had just shook up the entire music world with Nirvana being the at the top in terms of success and recognition. This is what led to events in which Kurt and these other rap stars would’ve been present and could’ve met. In fact, there’s a photo of Kurt, Dre, and Snoop together in 92, right around the time The Chronic dropped and a year after Nirvanas Nevermind brought grunge to the masses. Let’s not forget Dre had already achieved fame with NWA. Hip hop and rock were both firing on all cylinders at this time. And I think the hip hop community had a lot of respect for Kurt, the face on the grunge billboard which revolutionized rock at the time and a man who stood firm in what he believed in. I feel what Kurt was to rock in the 90s was what PAC was to rap in the 90s. Iconic. Represents a group. Voice of a generation. Both men. It wasn’t a matter of Kurt just somehow had this special connection to hip hop. It was a matter of real recognizing real, even within completely different music genres

AverageShlongMichael I think it was important since Kurt was a very active feminist but I think the dismissal of the cases should’ve been equally as important.

Peruvian Leftist Fella well if you would’ve listened to the actual full tapes, you would understand that he didn’t actually “admit to it”. He was quoting what people were trying to say about him.

I would argue that while many younger hip hop fans don’t know much about Nirvana, hip hop fans who dig Denzel Curry or Kid Cudi can easily see Kurt’s influence on their music and in music in general TLDR - Kurt’s legacy is living on in hip hop
