Apart from the gum shield incidents, Osumanu Adama was up for it and demonstrated skill and power with great heart. People forget quickly. A boxer is only as good as the people of his era. The middleweight division is lacking real talent... in the 1990's you had many great middlewieghts... *Mr Roy Jones, Mr James Toney, Mr Mike McCalum, Mr Julian Jackson, Mr Iran Barkley, Mr Thomas Hearns, MrGerald Mclennan, Mr Chris Eubank, Mr Nigel Benn, Mr Steve Colins, Mr John David Jackson, Mr Keith Holmes...* All of these champions would have annihilated Genady Golovkin... Go investigate them.
@giovanni5058 жыл бұрын
i get it some of these fighters you named are really special and above most fighters. but Golovkin has certain skills which would've given alot of the ones mentioned above problems. so no i don't agree. also you can't compare these fighters with one another. all you do is picking by favoritisme since you will never know who would win. like i can't compare any fighter of this era with let's say Hearns or Hagler. different time, different day etc. all based on nothing but pure speculation.
@khaliltheenlightenmentbomb34238 жыл бұрын
Dean McAndrew *Though you are considered far from intelligent and very disposable...* before I RE disappoint you... RE read my above comment, use a faculty of logic as well as study the sport... properly! He maybe your great white hope? But as I stated this era of boxers are well below the average boxers of the 90's fighters, that includes the OLYMPIANS!!!! All the boxers from the 90's would have *Annihilated Golovkin* inside the distance... Julian Jackson as well as McClellan, Toney, McCallum, Jones, Benn, Eubank, Collins, Holmes, Hearns, Barkley... Would have all knocked out GGG... Golovkin is a lucky fighter in the worse era in boxing history... Today's middleweights amateur and pro are poor compared to previous eras... It is possible that Golovkin would never have even made it as pro in the 90's... same goes for the heavyweights klitchkos... All of these fighters have been given a gift of birth era... Go study the eras...

Yeah Adama did above average against GGG, I put that down mostly to the shape of his head: it's sharp and made an excellent weapon. His best punch of the fight was set up by luring GGG into the trap of expecting another headbutt and after acting like he was going to do so, throwing a punch instead. It was an Andre Ward-esque move of the highest calibre.
All these ggg haters dont know shit. He hasnt got the best defence and is vulnerable to to uppercuts but ive seen all his fights more or less and he has taken some big punches and doesnt even flinch. That wears a guy down psychologically. The only way to beat this guy is to knock him out or hit and run like Leonard did to Hagler. When gg catches up to you youre in trouble. He hits like a light heavy. Would love to see him fight Canelo tho. That would be some fight and very hard to call. But i still pick ggg!
@mazzolaro18 жыл бұрын
don't know much about the sport but i'll say ggg is a tricky and also cheeky fighter from what i've seen of him, he paces himself well and most notable he catches them with the light stuff and only sparingly comes up with the big bombs when he needs to, he catches them unaware when their in a comfort zone and that's what i think breaks them down and lose heart in a fight......smart fella is ggg is all i have to say

@duftyboxing7 жыл бұрын
Graeme alan Deross that's true. Unfortunately other fighters prolly have too. That's because many of the inspectors are just collecting a paycheck and not doing their job. That's why it's sooo important for a pro fighter to have a good "team" behind them. Remember it wasn't an inspector but Shane Moseley's coach Naziim Richardson that caught the illegal hand wrapping on Margarito's hands. It's f'ed up, but that's the way pro boxing is.

When he starts landing flush, nobody wants to stand in the firing line of Gennady Golovkin. Every punch he throws has an effect on the opponent whether it lands or gets blocked, his power is very impressive. In the first round, he dropped Osumanu with a beautiful right hand counter, over the top and his jabs are some of the best I've seen in the sport. He got through effectively punching between the guard and cracking Adama with left and right hooks, as well to the body. His opponent attempted to adjust and fire counters, 1'2s upstairs-- some punches got through, others failed. In the end the pressure from Gennady Golovkin, his power and timing prevailed, forcing a 7th round TKO.

You don't think James Toney, Mike Mc Callum, Gerald Mc Clellan, Nigel Benn, Julian Jackson, Chris Eubank, , Roy Jones Jr, Kelly Pavlik . These fighters all hit hard, some of them devistating, and with it came that same confidence, i find it strange that you would jump streight to a heavyweight to describe Golovkin and skip right over the actual middleweights.

What I saw from Adama, his biggest problem, he wasn't calm. he wasn't relaxed. If he would have settled down, he could have given a better fight, being that unsettled, using that much nervous energy takes a lot out of a fighter. by contrast, GGG was completely relaxed. Adama does have some skills, he was just too nervous, too jumpy, he didn't have his emotions under control, and I think that was his biggest real technical flaw in this fight.

+John whyte Adama didn't realize how hurt GGG was in the 5th. He didn't gamble at all. GGG backed up for 30 seconds after taking that right hand in the 5th & Adama just followed him around.

You're right. GGG was very judicious though, and gave the impression that he might start firing back at any time. I think that made Adama cautious until GGG rebooted.

It was a pretty huge punch, but it's hard to say. I think GGG thought he was out of range or that Adama was going for his body. Then the punch went upstairs and it was like he wasn't ready, his head was kind of limp and relaxed, and it just jacked it back. But he never wobbled or anything. Just kept conservative. Not sure how much of that was he was super hurt, vs just buzzed and playing it safe.

PunchFor Pound Yeah it was a great set up by Adama & GGG didn't see the right coming at all. That's why I think Jacobs might have an outside chance at upsetting GGG. But the question is does Jacobs believe that? He doesn't seem too keen on facing GGG, but the way Jacobs sets up his shots leads me to believe he has to be able to land something on GGG should they fight, but they have to get in the ring first.....

kufujitsu Jacobs has a chance against anyone. I love his skill set. Haven't seen speed combos and power like that at 160 in a long time. I just don't like him as a fighter because he's ducking GGG. You have speed and power like that but even with all those tools, you won't reach for greatness? Fucking Algieri was willing to go to the slaughter against Spence where he had literally no physical advantages or tools capable of winning that fight, but Jacobs won't fight GGG where he has a big speed advnantage and tons of power? I get Jacobs doesn't as great a chin but he has the speed to land first on GGG... Obviously I'd favor GGG but Jacobs is waiting him out and GGG will be 35 by the time they fight. That's definitely decline age especially for an offensive fighter. So I could definitely see the upset, unfortunately. I'd still pick GGG though, but I agree with you, the Jacobs matchup is the best at 160 and Jacobs is very underrated because of the Pirog fight. jacobs even said that was because the cancer was already in his leg or something. Not sure I believe that but in any case Pirog was great and Jacobs was young. Every since then Jacobs has been dominant and no one at 160 has that much speed+power. He just needs the courage to reach for greatness and anything can happen. So far, he hasn't shown that interest.

It takes a bit of courage to stop a fight at the time that the referee stopped this one,.........but it was a very good stoppage. Adama put up a good fight and was very brave, but the steady punishment could have led to a serious injury if it was allowed to continue. Adamu was given every chance to turn things around, and he certainly tried , but it was apparent that he couldn't hurt GGG and that Golovkin could have continued hurting him indefinitely. Good fight,........very good stoppage.
