Thundering Fury Artifacts lore. The Thunderbird soared through the thunderstorms, raining down purple thunder and rain. Ancient tribes feared its powers and thanked it for its blessings. Shamans were chosen to offer blood sacrifices to it for protection and forgiveness. In the seasons when the Thunderbird flew amidst the stormy mountains, a young lad sang without fear. On one gloomy night, it shared a pure friendship with the lad. Attracted to his voice, the prideful Thunderbird landed by his side. "Curious tunes, tiny human. Afraid not of thunder and storms?” The young lad paused and answered, "They said I can bring peace to thunder and storms.” The Thunderbird cried but kept its silence, for his was an enchanting song. It was the first and last meeting between the Thunderbird and the young boy. The ancient tribe held the Thunderbird as its protector. But it rained down thunder upon the tribe. For the next he saw of the boy was when his blood filled the golden goblet on the sacrificial altar. They made their offerings, waiting for the Thunderbird to reveal the oracles. However, what descended with the Thunderbird was the lightning of destruction. In the last festival the tribe held, the frenzied Thunderbird blew away the bloodstained altar, the countdown to the tribe's destruction. The Thunderbird showed its true nature, wiping the tribe from the face of the earth. The Thunderbird decimated the tribe to avenge the one who sang to it. For the transgression against the young lad who sang to it, the sentence was total obliteration. Unbeknownst the Thunderbird, the lad himself considered his sacrifice as an offering - all for the good of the tribe... for the blessing of the Thunderbird. I shall sing you another tune, when you come again with thunder and rain. Driven to madness by the remorse of a promise unkept, the Thunderbird left the mountain in cinders. It was hunted down years after, slain as a monster. Years passed, the burned land revitalized. The story of the Thunderbird and the young lad had all but perished with the tribe. The Thunderbird was still a monster that cared not for the worship of mankind. They knew it not, and regarded the unpredictable actions of the Thunderbird as divine revelations. Yet thunder was its breath, as were the fates of men. From the sky, men were no different from animals... until one day, a song pierced through the roaring thunderstorm. The song ripped through the clouds, and bestowed upon it, light.

I feel bad for people who skip world quest dialogue. The story is amazing and equally as sad but in a different way, it focuses on NPCs that seems super ordinary, but once you look into it more, it's a different feeling and story that you'll never get from a playable character since they can't really die or actually disappear. Imagine if Ruu's story was voiced and this song plays after we finished the last part of it. How many hearts would have broke at that moment. I really wished it was voiced, but even if it wasn't voiced, a lot of people cried. Now Ruu soars the sky with his bestfriend, Kapatcir, following the traveler in their journey. Afterall traveler recieved a gift, a peculiar pinion as a sign that one day they will meet again.

The time we were with Ruu in Tsurumi explained why the Thunderbird got angry and murdered the inhabitants and destroyed Tsurumi and Seirai, then she was killed on top of Seirai by Raiden Ei But if you read the artifact description for Thundering Fury, there lies extra story, it's really gruesome, what happened to Ruu is devastating to know

Thunderbird didnt destroy seirai. Ei did take down the Thunderbird but since it was a celestial being, it cant really die so ei sealed it. During the cataclysm hibiki attempted to reopen the seal to help fight but it only resulted in the devastated environment we see in-game today.

The Thundering Fury artifacts really said what happened to Ruu, and it's so gruesome I couldn't even bring myself to farm the said artifacts (yes, call me a crybaby or coward) because of it. In the CN/JP description, it described how Ruu suffered more than just having his blood filling the goblet (I had to edit this part out because I realized how gory it was and it made some people uncomfortable so I'm sorry, I can't show the detail); it mentioned how Ruu had his bones removed from his flesh, etc. What's worse is that Ruu had been experiencing this in loop for thousands of years, all while trying to seek help from outside world. Ruu even watched how people who tried to help him ended up running away out of cowardice or was killed. If it weren't because of Traveller, Paimon, Kama, and Sumida (indirectly since she commissioned us to investigate Tsurumi Island), maybe Ruu would've give up on trying to stop the curse. He finally managed to break the curse with the help of those people, sung the Melody for Kanna Kapatcir, and eventually rest in peace. Ruu was such a strong boy for not giving up. He was a boy with big dreams, I hope that he can rest easy for we brought the pinion with us so he can see the magnificent world of Teyvat. We after all promised him to bring him outside ot Tsurumi Island and embark on a big adventure. Edit: removed the description on what happened to Ruu as it was too brutal.

After the the world quest and Ruu said farewell, I knew this was the last time I'll see Ruu. He leaves a mark on my heart and I was moved by his song. The song is beautiful as a blossom, but the story is as painful as thorn when touched, its very heart breaking. It saddens when I remember this.

I remember when Inazuma first came about; back then it was just Narukami Island, Tatarasuna and Yashiori. Some next updates, Watatsumi and Seirai came. And much later, Tsurumi was then revealed as the last Inazuma region. I thought to myself, why is this island seemed so lonely, located far away in the distance with a high mountain, shrouded with thick fog, as if scared and hates it when someone tried to come closer, as if it hides a hideous secret. Oh, how naive I was back then. After all that jazz involving Sumida and Kama, whenever I see Mt Kanna and Seirai's purple lightning from Kamisato Estate, I don't see any semblance of loneliness anymore; but instead, I see two friends finally reunited at last.
