the founder of genting highlands was Lim Goh Tong (born: 28 February 1918). at the age of 19, he worked for his uncle as a carpenter in the first two years, learning the Malay language in the meantime. During the early Japanese Occupation, he earned a living as a vegetable farmer, but decided to switch to petty trading for a better living. Later on Lim ventured into scrap-metal and hardware trading, later into mining and several other businesses. he died:23 October 2007 (aged 89) A visit to Genting Highlands gives you the chance to read some of Lim Goh Tong famous and inspiring quotes: - “Laugh at me as you please, but nothing will deter me from going up that mountain.”
