Me too. But they respect their history enough not to taint it. It would take an insane amount of practice and rehearsal to live up to what they've already accomplished. If they fall short their legacy is tainted. Many would agree it's time for Yes to retire. Gentle Giant is smart enough to make sure that they don't suffer a similar downfall.

Funny to see how Gary Green automatically claims his position as a spokesman on occasions like these. A role he’s able to fulfill quite well, I must say. I wonder if there’s going to be any further activity around Three Friends, the GG tribute band, after they had to quit performing a few years ago due to Gary’s health problems. Rumours back then told that the band was working on newly written repertoire. If that would only come true! Especially if Kerry Minnear would be prepared to throw in his unparalleled composing skills. It would mean the rebirth of Prog Rock!

@@gringochucha I'm afraid those rumours might be right. When Three Friends took off (back in 2006 I believe it was) Kerry Minnear initially was a band member, but left soon afterwards, as it seemed because the Shulman bros considered his contribution to TF inappropriate.

@@martinboere3274 It's a huge shame. Being only 31, I never got the chance to see them live. I have strong undeniable doubts GG could have made something as great nowadays. Times tend to change. There's something in the air that changes with time. I am personally proud to know that there's at least one prog monsters that never rejoined after disbanding in the prog rock's boo-day. KC, JT, VdGG, even Cressida and Cirkus, Beggars Opera and who not - all got together anew. I understand and appreciate and respect that most of GG members are probably not that very rich and simply not famous yet they are proud and sane enough to not go onstage again. Dignity values more than money and fame. All hail Gentle Giant!

@@noelgoode4080 Hello Noel Goode, Loved going to the Paramount to see shows always a life changing event. I gotta mention a tid bit about that show in particular that was plain to see. The majority of the audience was there to see Sha-Na-Na (Greaser Crowd) in which I didn't anticipate and I'm not sure if Gentle Giant did either. I went to see Gentle Giant of course. Feeling lucky our seats we got were front and center third row, we were happy! So, when Gentle Giant hit the stage opening the show well...naturally they were Boo-oo--oo-ed. It was awkward because we were surrounded by Greasers. They did actually had settled down after a short time which I was extremely grateful to them but at the same time a strange feeling came over me of only in Seattle that this had went by so smoothly. You know (Greasers) how they can get pretty rowdy if you ever saw the movie..(The Wild Ones)!!!! Thanks Noel you helped me tell this story. Peace to you and the city of Seattle. Rock on!

I couldn't imagine what it must have been like to see them back in the day. My introduction was at 15 in 2005 - I was buying a Yes album from Cambridge market, and the guy said: "You like prog stuff, mate?" I think I just nodded sheepishly. He handed me a CD of 'In a Glass House' and said "This will split your brain in half!" Still picking up the pieces of my brain 14 years later!

I was introduced to progressive rock in 2002 by our flute player, Cheung Yiu Munn. He was then 18 and from Hong Kong...yet he was superbly knowledgeable about late 1960s and early 1970s progressive rock groups. Prior to meeting him, my love of music focused exclusively on baroque and 20th century classical works...and nothing else! Well, after sampling 2 or 3 tracks each of Jethro Tull, Yes, King Crimson, Genesis, The Family and Van Der Graff Generator (and only The Family really impressed me at the time) I listened to Gentle Giant and it happened to be this album. I could not believe what I heard! I listened to the entire album...then made a mug of tea, rolled a cigarette and listened to the whole album again. By the end of the month I had purchased ALL their studio albums (which means, of course, I had to endure the shabby pop pap of the final 3 which, though superbly played, are not impressive as music, at least compared to what came before it). From Giant to Interview there's not a single track I don't enjoy. Three Friends (especially Schooldays) and Octopus (especially Knots, Boys In The Band and Think Of Me With Kindness) are probably my favourites. Our own group, UNIT, began to explore progressive rock territory as a result of my acquaintance with all this music and our sound changed accordingly although we never sounded like Gentle Giant. How could we? I mean, how could any group sound like them? Splendid stuff.

These guys were amazing and I've only heard 6 pieces of there music so far.

Personally, I found it amazing value and had 5 of the albums on Blu ray audio before the set even arrived and still found it excellent value. @@seancurtin5131 I'm always happy to read someone's answer to my posts. And I pressed Like to your one, and sure you are right. However, it may shock you, but I personally prefer to listen to any sort of music in 128 Kbps tagless mp3. And, honestly speaking, there's not so much diversity between the band's live performances - well, each one is diverse over the top, but comparing to the other their performances, over the years - it's pretty much the same. The same good quality and so on - but it's the same. Winchester College CD had long been sold before. To me personally it kinda looked like a filler to reach the magical number of thirty. I have no doubt that Gentle Giant ought to be supported - but then, it is doubtful that buying a very limited number of released copies would really improve the boys' lives that much or make them mega popular outside the prog rock sphere. You are right and I am right, thus. The books are groundbreaking, certainly. The photo is also a good appendix.

I'm really looking forward to listening to this treasure trove of amazing music, not to mention reading all about the band and perusing the concerts I'd love to time travel to to see and hear. My only issue is the low bluray count and I'm wondering if I'll have snapped up a good handful of the new bluray releases before my set arrives. Still just to have the albums full stop will be amazing. The first two thousand sets sold out in record time but luckily the guys decided to do another thousand sets and I'm waiting eagerly for my very own Gentle Giant collection to arrive. So many thank you's to Gentle Giant for this absolutely amazing looking set. One the Bluray side of the fence you did get hires for the 1st album and there's only another 3 titles in the Gentle Giant catalogue available that I'm aware of, so this fine collection is still a must if you love the music of Gentle Giant beyond curiosity. Burning shed in the UK may still be taking pre orders but I'd advise any fellow fans that are interested to dive in and place your orders now as these sets will not be around for long and anyone who saw the sold out first run for sale, knows it almost doubled in price from many sellers. So not only it it a fabulous collection of music but an actual musical investment that will simply continue to go up in value while your loving and cherishing it. Hmmm, buried treasure is certainly the best possible title for this set.

Very nice box but why they did not include the videos? It would make sense to include a couple of Blu-rays with all their studio and live videos, it seems the box is sold out but i would more inclined to spend US$300 if they`ve included the videos.

If so, let them also include Under Construction and Scraping The Barrel. I long for the completeness.

I’m glad they rehearse the music much much much much much much more than they rehearsed this press conference,,,Or should I say; it would’ve been nice if they had rehearsed this press conference, a little bit. But they can’t tarnish the music…

Would really like to get an hold on the New Orleans show (the only soundboard with Phil) and Chester 1977 (which I heard was a great soundboard too).
