My Dad wore Cowboy boots for his more formal look. He would polish them regularly. Along with his Grey Stetson Cowboy hat and handle bar mustash, that he would shape that with mustache wax. He looked good. Not every one can pull off that look without looking silly. He did that Texas look with style. My mom thought he was handsome. They were married for about Fifty years. It goes to show you that wearing fashion with confidence is part of dressing well.

Can you please list the shoe lace length in cm on the store? I'd like to know if they are too long for chukka boots for example which have fewer eyelets.

Last "discovery" was Urban Sheppard Boots, handmade in Portugal. Given, al little on th erugged side and surely not dressy, but great built quality and if you go the Gentry-Style route, surel worth a look. I reccomend a size larger than usual though...

It would be interesting to know your opinion when it comes to pairing garments of different texture, e.g. seersucker pants+suit jacket, chinos+tweed jacket, corduroy pants+tweed jacket and so on. I see that you do pair different garments of these fabrics, but I'd like to understand the thinking process behind.

lol I was active duty for many years, but back in Basic I used to wax and polish my boots as my zen time; it was something not mentally challenging that gave me something pretty at the end (I always washed my boot with saddle soap first though, because blech)

As a boy in the 80s I had a nice pair of Florsheim Imperial shoes. I was very proud of them. My assumption was that they were made in Flörsheim, as our family was from near there. I was disappointed to find out that they weren't. But what did I know? Lol I recently looked over a modern pair of Florsheim shoes of similar model and likewise, I was not impressed. I'm not much of a shoe guy, but I like and own the Allen Edmonds Park Avenue and the McTavish wingtip Oxford. Both are pretty well made and comfortable, and not too hard to maintain.

As usual, great advise, though I dare make a different suggestion for the first shoe for anyone who is not attending church services, board of directors meetings and/or balck/white tie events for a living and not just go with a burgundy (or dark brown) cap toe derby, but even a quarter brogue, which can be easily dressed down to even work with jeans but will not look too peculiar with even a double breasted navy pinstripe. I guess 95% of people just gong for "style" should be well covered with that. On a sidenote, a good friend and fellow menswear afficionado told me about a shoemaker in our very hometown who's still making custom shoes for what is basically a bargain. I guess I will take my shot come fall. Wish me luck, as it will be my first plunge into that hitherto uncharted territory.

If you could only have a couple pairs of dress shoes in your wardrobe what would they be? Right now I have Loafers and Cap Toe oxfords which do feature some broguing but not too much like a Wingtip normally does. Excellent live stream!

I did not catch the live stream, I hope this question gets answered. Attire at my office is business casual at best and often very casual at worst. My pants colors are typically black, khaki and shades of grey. Never a tie. What would be a nice shoe and color for this type of setting ?
@anonuser48063 жыл бұрын
For khaki, probably a chocolate dark brown, for grey black or better yet burgundy and for black, black or dark grey/light grey/grey. Try incorporating your shirt and jacket/blazer if you wear one, into your outfit as well

Bit of a different question here. Do you know of some quality, stylish options for non-leather dress shoes? As a vegan, I still own and wear some leather shoes that I had previously, but I don't want to purchase new ones, for obvious reasons. There are some cheaper shoe brands that are "accidentally vegan," made from PU leather, but quality and finish is also often cheap. Looking for higher quality and more stylish options here. Love the channel. Thanks!

I'd say go for second hand shoes, as for the ones you already have, they are already produced and therefore don't have any impact on the production

I was offended at stereotype suggested by your comment that cowboy boots are fine if you live in Texas. Cowboy boots are a popular in Canada as in the USA, plus they are popular in many states other than Texas--Wyoming, Montana, Arizona, etc. I was even reading an article about a British aristocrat with collection of cowboy boots because as he stated, "they are the most comfortable foot ware ever made."
@pankakotakismegalomavropou33553 жыл бұрын
Exceptions don't disprove a stereotype or trend. Just accept it. Many stereotypes exist not just as a social construct out of ether and hot air, but based on historical observation and continued replication in real life... also, yes, I do agree that cowboy boots are also popular in other states, as well as certain Central and Southern American regions.

@@TheSultan1470 That is one reason SOME Texans wear them, but it is by no means a Texas style. Have you ever been to Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas, or Idaho?
