My dad retired from driving at a large local bakery and they discovered with their fleet of trucks that taller gears and smaller tires increased the mpg of their truck significantly enough for them to swap ALL the trucks to the same setup.

Another Great Video Tim, Such a big heart, what a legend. Listening to you guys talk about what you are going to do with the old shop space I reckon you should build a building and make it your clean room where you rebuild your engines, gear boxes and stuff. that way you wouldn't need to worry about dust and dirt blowing everywhere into a new rebuilt engine Either way I can't wait to see the come back from this as its going to be one of the greatest. Im a Diesel Mechanic From Australia, at a Detroit Diesel dealership, so I enjoy watching you working on all the old girls. Wish I could come over and help out rebuilding some for you. maybe one Day.

Some one should of counted the turns on the yoke to axle ratio ,,,,BEFORE you put the swap rearends 3 rd member , that would of been a good way to simply match and check the ratios of each rear end before you put it in even if you had to pull the driveline and jack the thing up and turn it you could’ve matched it , they have rags on them that tell you the ratio , it’s was a lot of work for nothing right , ,,, Get r done ✅ ,, BigAl California thanks praise Jesus Christ grace grace grace amen 🙏

Hopefully the shop close to the interstate will work out as it will probably have muck better access for trucks coming off the road and don't have to wind back roads for a couple of miles. The old shop could be built back to store merch and expand the office etc, maybe park show trucks like Johnny Cash

Great video Tim, biggest scam is why burn the brand new tools? and work in the rain? and why do it in the middle of winter time? might be nice weather for ducks, but sure as anything isn't nice laying on your back in puddles on a yard floor, let alone in the middle of winter temperatures. especially when living so far from the equator, or like I have seen for the USA at the moment with freezing temperatures nearly nationwide. yeah best reason to move locations now before building another shop, as you will find once a new shop is built that you will want to stay put for another few years which won't allow you to expand that much more, plus having to move all the paperwork furnature etc. to a new shop months down the line. while I don't agree with going with brand new trucks, a workshop is different.

I had a van I changed the rear end it had 3/42 original I put a 3/08 in it speedo was 8-10 faster than it showed. It was gas not blessed with power got a little better mpg but it was on highway needed to be moving . You folks are going the other route will definitely climb and maintain speed I think you will like it

I forgot to say hey dad, I love you for all you did for me regardless of how it may of seemed,.... cause really you had my back. I had called him a "Old Fart" which he did hate to hear... I lost him a hour later. I have owned some mighty fine metal and it served me well. I really never knew how good I had it till I lost everything I owned. I went from being right at a value at the bank of a million dollars to the next month out of home, shop and all my toys.

Well obviously hes lacking parts now, and before he was trying to stock/store parts. These days in the trucking industry it's been hard to get parts, no matter what kind of parts, now the stock burnt, and he's trying again to source the parts he lost again, plus his business runs wide open all day to keep everything going, he would have to pay a crap ton of labor to stop that for a "project". He can't stop everything to appease KZbin viewer. Not to mention he was getting the projects done at Ronnies, well Ronnie isn't doing well rn and can't work out there. Now with that said he just took probably 100k-150k but it's probably way more then that. That's just stuff I counted in my head. As far as "insurance" in the trucking industry you can use it for the vehicles that were "customers", but if you try to claim everything he lost vehicle wise then they might cover it but either way when you renew your insurance plan then they will reject it and you would have to deal with trying to find somewhere to get insurance with. In the long run it's probably cheaper for him to take the loss

Because he pays more attention to the price tag when they’re doing maintenance and repairs than what the right choice is. I learnt a long time ago that you should buy what you actually need not what’s cheapest and worry about paying for it when you’re done. 9 times out of 10 that 1k you saved ends up costing you 10k not far down the road
