Hello! You are an amazing artist!! You will go far! Please hear me when I say, please free yourself of that man. He is using you and it will not get better. He’s trying to turn your kindness, agreeableness and talent to his own advantage. I can tell from your writing how sweet and understanding you are, but you have to be more careful and strong. I’m a 35 year old woman, and I wouldn’t have seen this guy’s motives very clearly at 23, but now I see it well. Please be careful, he will try to get you pregnant to trap you, so you will serve him for the rest of his life. Some men are so much worse than we as women can imagine when we are young; some men don’t see us as partners and never will. Enjoy singlehood, don’t let a man distract you from your career, and when you are on stronger footing, choose a man who is willing to treat you as an equal.

I've had 2 c sections. My first was because my son was breech, I had too much amniotic fluid and swollen. They took him 3 weeks early. I OPTED for a c section with my 2nd pregnancy. I had my insides on the outside and on the table for the sake of my children. Anyone who says that's not a real mom, has never healed from a major surgery while taking care of a newborn.

My mom had 3 c sections, it was the best for her and us in given the 3 different situations. I never considered her less of a mom just because I didn't come out her v**ina 🤷🏻♀️ I'm also likely to have a c section because I'm pregnant with twins so, let's ignore whoever criticises birth choices 💪🏻
@katrinascarlet563722 сағат бұрын
An aunt very loudly shamed her sister for having a c-section. Said that she wasn't a real mom. Well 5 years later she herself gets pregnant and immediately stops exercising and taking care of herself. Went from marathon runner to solely living off junkfood on the couch, rarely showered too. We weren't surprised when she had to have a c-section. She snapped at the first person to ask if she was sure she was a *real* mom but someone had to throw it back in her face after what did did to her sister. It was sweet karma.

@laleona122119 сағат бұрын
OMG do you think that’s something that came out as a famous line in a movie maybe? Because my mom also said it verbatim to me. Not being sarcastic, just wondering why so many awful moms said it. And after a lot of therapy all I can say is: I’m so sorry. Your mom is absolutely an asshole. And you are worthy of unconditional love, it’s really shitty that she was too damaged to give it. That story about the woman whose husband wouldn’t let her go to her sister’s wedding, leaves me in my usual pessimism that he didn’t leave the house the day ahead wrote the update, and that she’s stuck with him in this abusive relationship, or has he already done something to her? I personally think the only way an age gap can work is when the younger party has lived a bit. Like I was 27 when we met, I’d gone to uni for my degree, started a business and travelled. Girl 23 and he’s 37 living at home. Then exploiting your talent. RUN 🚩

On the topic of the last story; my husband loves college football but we have 3 boys who are 11, 6, and 3. He records the game and watches it later in the day when the boys are in bed or doing their own things after he spent the day with his family. He started this when our first was born! It’s not rocket science. And parenting and marriage is A LOT of compromise!
@pantohouСағат бұрын
This is exactly what we do! My husband is a Steelers fan and when it was just one kid I didn’t mind letting him have his time but now we have 2 under 2 and he feels bad leaving me to deal with them for 3 hours so he’ll watch it later or if we’re having a lazy day we’ll all watch together and I make snacks for all of us! It’s just not practical to be locked away for hours with kids in the house and the guy in the last story is not just asking for 1 day/game!

For story 6: I grew up vegan, meaning no meat or animal products in the house. Now, as an adult, I am a vegetarian. All that being said, I would totally understand that these things are sentimental to this writer if I were the writers girlfriend. I would find the heads and ivory and stuff uncomfortable, but I would not say anything at first. I'd play by ear what I said according to the cues my partner was giving out. Id never ask my partner to do anything they felt not ready to do. I get it. When someone dies, their things are all you have left of them physically. Those things are precious. To suggest selling them feels cruel to me.
@ellie.ivanovaКүн бұрын
Exactly, I did eat meat when I was a child, but haven't for more than half of my life. Asking a grieving person to sell or destroy what currently and maybe forever will feel like memories is so cruel. That being said, I also probably wouldn't be super comfortable staying in the grandma's house with all those belongings, so it would be a very hard situation to manage
@cuddlecows5 сағат бұрын
I'm vegan, and when I find dead stuff (mostly bones or cool dried bugs), I collect them (i am like a crow or some shit. I collect rocks too)... I have a shelf of bones because I spend a lot of time in the woods. It really gives people a shock when they come over the vegans house, and I'm like, "want some plant based reeses?" while we are staring at my bone shelf. 😂

The first story reminds me of an episode of say yes to dress where a mother and a daughter and her friends come to the salon and Randy and another consultant are trying to find her a dress. She's tried on over a hundred and been to multiple different countries trying to find a dress. And then they find out what the problem is, after like three dresses the daughter finally finds a dress that she loves and the mother hates it she literally laughs at the daughter in the dress. She is deflated and almost crying and Randy actually has to step away he's like I never do this but I can't be here, he's like if I was blessed enough to have a child I would never treat them that way, there's no secret why this daughter can't find a dress and leaves without one

Also Morgan, at 10:30, you are right on the money about the psychology about it, theres evidence that shows how if a mother struggles growing up insecure, or subconsiously struggling with their own image, it can be projected when they raise their daughters, out of subconsious protection, as disrespect nagging, or picking apart, because the mom is hyperaware of the similar "flaws", even if the flaws arent bad, its something ive looked into because of a similar situation, and its really puzzling and sad

Story 2: I'm not someone who typically assumes the worst about any given situation, I don't conjure the darkest explanation for why something is... but I find myself feeling far less optimistic about what might've happened to the wife and mother in the second story. There are a number of red flags, aside from the fact that her husband is clearly abusive on many levels. Two things, in particular, make me worry very much for OP. Her last bit of commentary was that she told her husband she was going to take the kids and leave and she indicated that he responded in a way that was strikingly different from his normal way; with absolute calm. As most of us know, the most dangerous time for a victim of domestic violence is after she tells her partner she's leaving but before she's had the chance to physically remove herself. I find it unnerving that her husband responded so calmly when he habitually loses his temper. The other element that worries me, of course, is that she never typed another word; not only did she provide no further responses or updates to this post, Morgan said OPs account shows no other posts, period. I recognize there are many potential explanations for this, perhaps more credible and likely than the worst case scenario I'm dancing around. Chances are, OP was able to escape her abusive marriage and she and her children are in a better place. It's also possible OP is still with her husband, either in denial or working out how to leave. Nevertheless, I'm uneasy and hoping we will learn something soon.

The last guy is practically a caricature. To be that oblivious and, frankly, immature is both baffling and not very surprising at all. Frankly, I don't think he should have had a kid if he can't fathom the idea that he has to change what already sounded like a lobsided arrangement with his partner. He doesn't respect her and doesn't respect his child. We'd all hope this man would mature, but if their marriage is still going after that child turns 18 then I would be truly shocked. I don't even know if that marriage will last that long, even. He's heading straight for a divorce.

Morgan, I hopefully have some reassuring words about wedding dress shopping. I went about a year ago and got married this summer. I also had fears about how I would look and family. The thing about wedding dresses, they are the most beautiful and tailored dress most people will ever wear. You will be surprised how you feel trying them on. At least this was my experience. I did my first shopping experience with 2 friends who couldn’t come to where I live to shop. That was great as a lower stress first experience. I was with friends and since I was only visiting the town, the expectation to absolutely love a dress was low. It did help me figure out the style I wanted.

If I am relistening to a series because the next book is coming out I will increase the speed. Usually between 1.2 and 1.7. I am actually doing this now with the Stormlight series to preparation for Wind and Truth. So excited! 😃

1:10:40 my pet peeve is when someone said they read a book but they listened to it. Reading is when you read text of a page if you listened to it you didn’t read it. I don’t have anything against people who do listen to books I do it myself I just don’t think that you can call it reading.

With story 7, is there a chance he could listen to the football and look after the baby? I know he should be all there for the baby but at least if he can hear the game then he knows what's going on but also focus on the baby.

5:53 I felt the same way but trust me those bridal consultants are INCREDIBLE and make you feel SO GOOD about yourself. My consultant pulled something I never would’ve thought to grab based on a tattoo I had and the floral pattern looking similar to one she remembered them having. And BOOM in she walks with THE dress. A few alterations and add ons later with their fabulous seamstress and it was a dream dress for me. A professional bridal shop is going to be soooo good at making you feel comfortable. And remember, the less people the better. Go alone if you want to and don’t feel guilty about it. It’s for YOU.

As an animal rights activist, I completely agree with you that selling the dead animals and profiting on animal abuse should not be ethical at all for Penny. I actually don't understand how Penny is a vegetarian if she has those beliefs, since egg laying hens and milk cows suffer the most of all animals in the agricultural industry... And btw, if anybody has a fur coat or something like that that they don't know what to do with, you can donate it to animal sanctuaries! They help keep the animals warm during cold winters, and it's an amazing way to give back to the animals ❤😊

I work with a blind person who listens to everything on at least 3x speed for work. I bet she would listen to audio books on that speed, too. Everything else is too slow for her now, since she trained herself to work with that speed.

As someone that has experienced natural birth AND a cesarian section. I would push 1 million more babies out of my hooha before I opt for a section again. ANYONE that says it’s the easy way out is delusional! The pain and recovery of that surgery is excruciating. The burning sensations I felt when my incision started healing went all the way through my layers. I’ll NEVER understand why anyone would opt for one if they really didn’t need to. Yeah, vaginal birth is hard and it hurts. But if all goes well, the pain afterwards is minimal compared to surgery.

Side note, there's an entire children's series called "The borrowers." It's about little people like 5-6 inches tall who take our things for help them live.

I related to 2 stories this week! I'm a c section mom, I needed to have one due to some medical things and it is not easy, it's a major surgery, but I regret nothing. I am a real mom and doubt nothing. My husband is also a big football guy and he watches almost every day of the week but we have a deal where if I have a show I want to watch or the baby is distracted and needs no TV time, he'll watch it on his phone. He also takes care of our son without issue and has the game on in the background. He gets down on the floor, plays with our son and it's never an issue. You don't need dedicated alone time to watch a football game 🤷♀️ you can also record the game and watch at night after the baby is to bed if you REALLY need to watch it undivided.

1:11:00 I wouldn't say that audio books "don't count", but to say that it's only about information being conveyed kind of misses the art of writing, in my opinion. Especially if the book was published with specific indentation, paragraphs structure and things like that which change the way you see the story structure. In reading you take in different information about things like grammar and sentence structure instead of listening to the voice actor's interpretation of how the pace should go, how the characters would talk or how the author's tone would be. You get to imagine people's voices and accents without any influence, aside from the writing itself. The experience is not superior, it's just vastly different. Audio books are kind of their own art form, and the voice acting is part of that art. I wonder if there are authors who write differently when they have audio books in mind, and who change their style if they want it to be read individually. like composers who desire their music to be listened to live in a full auditorium, versus alone with noise cancelling headphones, they just change the way you experience the art. I also work with neuro diverse children part-time and audio books and audio resources are a Godsend, so I love them for that too. TLDR: I think listening to audio books and reading books are different art forms, which can deliver different experiences and interpretations of the same story. Each have pros and cons. They are supposed to be enjoyed differently and not ranked against each other.

I have ADHD and dyslexia ,I do love reading but I really struggled in school when it came to homework where I had to read about things I just wasn't interested in. One time in university I had a presentation so I put my script into a text to speech so I could listen to it instead of just reading it over and over, it helped me so much. I bet If I could have done all readings on audio books in university it probably would have made it easy to understand for me at least.

Regarding audio books... I don't judge people for listening, whatever they want to do is their business. The reason I don' t like audio books is because when actually reading I get so into the story it's like I am there and I can't connect like that just listening or even watching movies. Nothing can replace reading for me.
