So glad that within a couple of months he was doing so much better! I've had my terrified rescue for a year and she is still jumpy and will only associate with myself and my partner. She was tortured, shipped to Maine where she spent four months in a shelter, was declared "unadoptable" and "feral." The most loving (if noisy) dog imaginable!

The "moo" howling was delightful! It’s amazing how relieved you can be when your rescue dog finally finds their voice. My first rescue dog, Tarka, was completely silent for nearly an entire year. I even asked the vet to check if there was something physically wrong that was preventing her from barking. I can only assume that she had been severely punished to keep her quiet by her previous owner, because once she voiced her first tentative "woof", and she realised we were ok with it, there was no holding her back!

I've never heard a dog moo like a cow before. I can see why your neighbors were confused. Years ago, I had a neighbor who (unbeknownst to me) had a cockatoo. When her windows were open, I would often hear a loud MALE voice. As she lived alone, I thought she had visitors. He knew so many phrases, it was months before I found out it was a bird!

What a sweet pea he reminds me of my little terrier Winston who has since passed on. He also was a rescue from something not good, once they know you can be trusted and won't hurt them their personality comes out and they are the funniest little pups. Winstons nickname was MOO, I wonder if that is something that these little dogs have deep inside that they just have to let the mooooo out. It is so wonderful that there are patient loving foster homes for these scared little souls, thank you dear lady for opening your heart and home : )

We had a dog that was abused for his first 8 years. It took a long time for him to feel safe around us. He got nothing but love from us. Every once in a while though he would shake so violently. Didn't want to know what he was possibly remembering.❤️🐾❤️🐾

The shite some dogs have lived through is crazy. Thanks for caring. 8 years is a long time to be miserable, especially if your life expenctancy is 11-15 years at best. It takes time, but they can heal enough to turn a corner to a happy existence. Thank you. ❤🙏

I am a volunteer at Woods Humane Society and I have to say they employ the most kind humans I've met, and it is a pleasure to give 8 to 10 hours of my month to help them out. They accept animals from all over the world including displaced animals from (for instance) the recent fires in Hawaii. If anyone is interested (I work with cats and kittens exclusively) in seeing any of Woods's felines, I have several KZbin shorts on my channel, with new ones every week. Sorry for the shameless promotion, but if you live in central California, you may see your next cat or kitten there !
