Awesome tutorials!! I’m looking to build an off grid dome on an island and I’m really concerned about the dome getting too hot during the day because the weather is typically between 24-31 degrees Celsius during the day and I can’t connect and Air conditioner because it’ll be to expensive. In your experience, will the insulation and a solar fan help cool down the tent enough? And will you advice I get more vents to ensure proper ventilation or it will just get too hot to live in during the day?
@TractorsandCream3 жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness that sounds amazing! The insulation and solar vent do help, the vent doesn't really put any cool air in, it just circulates really but definitely helps. I think if you had a couple of them it would work better. Our panoramic window velcros in so it is something you could potentially unvelcro part of and also have to door open to get a breeze through. They do get warm but in our experience, people don't spend time inside them during the day, they go out and about exploring or lay in the hammocks outside so I wouldn't worry about it being too hot during the day as people will not spend as much time in there as you think. Create a lovely outside space as part of your offering would be my suggestion. Hope that helps and thanks so much for watching our videos! Vicki

@@TractorsandCream thank you so much for the response Vicki, we will definitely look into the velcro for the panoramic window and creating more ways to keep guests engaged outside during the day. You’re awesome!! Thank you!!!

Hi there, may I ask where did you get your dome tent from and how much did it coast ya? Cheers! Marko & Hannah
@TractorsandCream3 жыл бұрын
Hi guys! We got it from a UK based manufacturer called TruDomes but they ship worldwide. This one is the 6.7 metre and cost £10500 including insulation, curtains, solar vent and wooden door kit. Our other one is a 5.8 metre and cost £8000. Please feel free to shout if you have any other questions. Vicki

Amazing. What was the total build cost with all included if you don't mind me asking?
@TractorsandCream3 жыл бұрын
Hi! So the dome itself cost £10500 which included the insulation, curtains, solar vent and wooden door kit. We spent probably another £750 on timber (6x2) and 18mm ply for the base. We have since probably spent another £8000-10000 on the rest of the project, putting in a bathroom and kitchen, outside deck and getting hot water etc. We will be making separate videos on how we did the bathroom and kitchen, solar and plumbing etc but feel free to ask any questions in the mean time. Thanks so much, Vicki

@@TractorsandCream Ah thank you so much. We are looking to do a similar project on the continent in 3 years time once we have the funds and would love to think that Domes are the way to go!! Would you consider a bigger dome in the future that has the kitchen and bathroom in a central island for your next dome rather than a separate unit etc? Was there an additional cost of plumbing and running electrics to that part of your land?
@TractorsandCream3 жыл бұрын
@@alainpheactiveclubs2787 we would absolutely love to have a bigger dome one day but the larger you get the higher the top of the dome is and we can't really go above 4 metres tall with our planning permission. We had to pay around £1500 to get water to our field and then we had to do all the groundworks to get the water to the domes and then originally has to put a septic tank system in for all the sewage from the domes and yurts. We are off grid so use solar for all our lighting but if you have mains power you are winning! We had to get a big solar panel system and inverter to power the boiler and a fridge which has been pretty stressful as we've just been putting it all in yesterday and today! Our first guests arrive on Monday so feeling a bit up against it at the moment!
