Hi everyone, I hope you enjoyed this brief tour of the poles of our planet. Don't forget to check out the Tundra Climate and Icecap Climate videos that I also produced, which give a complete picture on these parts of the world. And let me know if any of you have directly experienced these climates and biomes!

I love your videos! As someone who just moved from an oceanic climate country in NW Europe to Norway with its continental, taiga, tundra and ice cap climates, I have been learning a ton about my new home from you and what makes it what it is!

Amazing video!!!! The polar biomes are such a fascinating and beautiful part of the world. As i live in Brisbane Australia, it's a biome that I'm totally unfamiliar with except for my limited travels. I've always been so fascinated by ice, snow and tundra. Its so cool seeing how a difference of just a few degrees can make such a big difference on the scenery and biome that can be found in the region. That really fascinates me so much. I love how you spelled it out with the difference between tundra and ice cap. As a whole, this series was so interesting! So excited for the next one. Regardless of what it is, I know it'll be a lot of fun. Have an amazing week!

Since you asked, extremely interestings videos. My favourites were habitability and Asian monsoon. Videos were answer to many questions, but also raised one question that I had not thought of before, why do grasslands exist instead of forests becoming straight to shrublands.

I think the high pressure system at the poles will prevent a lot of rain from getting near, creating more of a cold arid climate. But below 80 degrees north/south, where the polar high isn't directly over low pressure systems can go here and bring rain. I think it is possible to have forests well adapted to cold continue to spread into the tundra region as the climate warms, as well as more temperate forests spread up to 60 degrees north too.

I had a dream that in around a century there will be a great darkness brought about by a scientist who has an ambition to end life on Earth. He constructed a quantum-shift bomb and detonated it at Yellowstone Caldera, causing an explosion unlike any the Earth has ever seen. The winter that followed caused glacial expansion, and many of the Earth's biomes, including tundras, were forever changed. Yes, I'll get off the drugs... one day. 😜

Can you imagine the life of Inuits (especially before goods were flown in), living in 5 months of darkness, constantly having to hunt for seal to be able to use its oil for heating, if you don't go out in the complete darkness, bore a hole in the ice and bait the seal and hunt it down then your kids will freeze / starve to death. Bruh these people are hardier than any other human.
@Geodiode Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I gained somewhat of an insight into their life in Dan Simmon's novel "The Terror" (which inspired me to make the video "The Northwest Passage") in my other series. The Inuit played a significant part in that epic, and I mention them there.
