Top tip when you're trying to balance a washer on top of a socket or something similar, add a small dab of grease between the socket and the washer to keep things slightly sticky. I keep a tube of grease in my toolbox for exactly that reason.

One rainy morning, stuck in a traffic jam, I was sitting in my old Type 3 VW bought a few months earlier, stirring the gear lever trying to find any forward gear. The socket set in the passenger footwell tempted me to try to fix the problem which had been nagging ever since purchase. So; out came two screws and up came the lever with ball on the end. Socket for that ball looked intact so I redistributed the grease, carefully located the ball in the socket and replaced the screws. Traffic had still not moved but for the first time for me in the car, gear selection was positive. More wasn't quite right with the car but my meagre student income financed progressive repairs.

why fanny around underneath in the dark, use a bit chewing gum to hold the bolts [with washers on] pointing upwards, screw nuts on in the boot... 15 min job max... lowered suspension requires shorter shockers, otherwise the shocker will bottom out on full travel, and punch a hole in the shocker top mount, oh, hold on...

In future , put the nut in the socket , electrical tape the washer to the end of the socket (around the edge of the washer ) thereby keeping the washer in place not in your eye .

That shock mount may work that way, but it looks to me like the bracket should bolt on from under the car, not from on top the way it's done.
