Geoff Thompson on staying calm and loving yourself

Knowing him personally I have to say Geoff is one of the most loving and beautiful people I've had the pleasure of meeting. His work is life saving and life giving, he gives so much and exemplifies love in such a pure way.

I think that is a really important point, "I have moments of perfection". Many, including myself used to get down on ourselves when we would feel anxiety, depression, anger etc after seemingly 'doing so well', and it often led to a negative snowball effect, as we'd think, "what's the point". But those moments are the point, and the more you have, and the less attachment you give to the 'blips', the more forward momentum you gain, until you look back and realise that what were once daily 'blips' have now become weekly, or monthly, and that is true growth.

I did this, I was raised by a single mother with bi polar, I too self phyco analysed myself after watching the vlogs of that Elliot guy. I realized because of my upbringing I was playing a victim, I was desperately loanly and im a 35 yr old virgin despite having model good looks and being an artist, like you your insecurities made you a top martial artist, mine has made me a strong chess player, I hid from women and could never work out why I couldn't even say hi to a women who obviously liked my good looks, its because I was a victim from birth, this victimhood continued to adulthood and its only now aged 35 ive realized created this by listening to the voice inside, im already a lot better but im struggling a lot with the idea im too old and past it now. Ive got to do a lot of cleaning, thankyou Geoff. You've helped me to realize I can help this inner voice, I know its gonna be very difficult maybe impossible but inow I can improve. IM NOT A VICTIM ! IM NOT GONNA FEED THE BEAR.

So how would you deal with random panic attacks ? I cant even identify why they started , do I just face that head on ? Because from the panic attacks there have been alot of things / fears of being enclosed like flying that have come with it , I will fly again and face it but i fear I will have a panic attack on board and thats just one fear and its not even a fear of flying its probably the embarrasment of having the panic attack

Fixing yourself is fair enough... but I wouldn't believe he has finished yet. And I wouldn't follow his truth until he does because it is as he says "dangerous". He has a knack for making his fears yours, then he talks about how to fight those fears. Well, if I hadn't been drawn in the first place then I wouldn't need to fight those fears. I hope he puts a lid on it until he's completely finished. I hope...

***** Possibly this was just a figure of speech... Irrespective of the origin of the fear, he has been involved in expanding other people's fear in the past. The whole martial arts industry is based on this and he has always stood out in my mind as being superb at that particular money making strategy. I especially remember his book where he writes extensively about violent psychopaths and it's enough to chill your blood and head to his nearest seminar to find out what you can do about this "dangerous world" we live in. I'm glad he's moved on but to say we are all "love" shows he hasn't finished his journey, he even admits this. I'm a negative person but I'm also a positive person but you are just staying I'm negative because you are threated by the valid point I make above.

I agree I am threatened by him, I've always been threatened by Geoff Thomson whether he was preaching fear like 10 years ago or love like now. Why do I fear it? Because it's too black and white, it's unnatural you can't erase fear in favour of love or visa versa you are fighting your own nature if you try and effectively destroying your own humanity and in Geoff's case encourage others to follow his lead. Do you feel fear as well as love or are you in denial? I listened to this video because a friend of mine wanted to discuss it with me, now it seems you want to discuss... something... with me. I agree I am stating my opinion... what else can I state. My mind is as wide or narrow as I wish it to be, I'll open up to truth but I know this video is not entirely true... hence my posts... I understand he can make it true because he's an alchemist but I know there is always a limit and as he found with his fear so he'll find with his love. I like change especially for the better, however I am in a fortunate position where my life is already pretty good, I like my job and I love my family, so in my position I am more thankful for what I have than desiring of what I don't have. Finally it's great to hear your honest opinion of me based off my comments but the more comments I make the more your opinion will change, better or worse, I don't know. So I am asserting he is not finished because he hasn't accepted both sides and reached equilibrium i.e. dark and light, positive and negative, fear and love, furthermore he should actually put an end to his teaching until he reaches equilibrium because people get drawn in and encouraged to follow his folly... do you disagree? And if so why? P.S. That was my original point which I am now returning to having, I think, dissolved your criticism of my personality.

How do you find out who you are? You don't need to go through who you're not... just look at yourself... by the way I seriously doubt anyone including Geoff Thompson is love. I think he wants to be love though... but again it is dangerous to believe you are love if you're not.

When the sun of culture shines low, even dwarves like Thompson will cast long shadows. Yea, because speaking from my own experience with this person, you know pressure testing Thompson ... when the shit hits the fan, so to speak ... I can quite honestly say, he does not practice what he preaches. And so you never walk alone, but without fake Thompson for sure... His books aren't worth the money in the first place. And I grew tired of the Bafta ... blah blub ... Bafta ... blahblub ... Bafta ... blub Just another fake, trying to milk the curious. You can tell when you look close enough...

You're throwing baseless, incongruent put downs on Geoff, to make people believe what YOU want them to believe? The truth about Thompson is not what your half lit, supposed observations are. He said himself that he fails sometimes under pressure, just as he stated he lost his temper a short time before this book store presentation. He said he fails and the old scripts creep to the surface so he realizes he is ALWAYS a work in progress. And the Baafta award was a proud milestone in his life and allowed him to realize he had transformed himself into a real expresser of thoughts and ideas who was good enough that people thought him worthy enough to listen to. And he mentions it is a piece of metal and he can't let it define him. Instead of throwing stones at others, maybe you should clean your mirror and take a good long look at yourself.
