Thanks for the comment! It’s amazing how far technology has come-what we can read from the ground now with geophysics and modern tools would have been unimaginable back in the day. Castlemaine is such a rich area for prospecting, with so much hidden gold still waiting to be uncovered. Who knows, with today’s methods, you might find some new spots to explore properly if you ever get the chance to return! There's always something more beneath the surface.

Fosterville mine has been surveying this area north towards Echuca for a while, core drill sampling and what ever other techniques they use. I know because they've knocked on our door to inform us whats going on, there's an old quarry 1km from us and even a known site gold was found pretty much on the property where we live north of Goornong but back near where the Bendigo creek passes our boundary and a neighbours and there's heaps of quartz scattered through out paddocks.

Deep Lead mining anywhere in VIC will only occur when engineering technology matches the task. No-one has come up with a safe method...yet. When it occurs, there will be a real mining company gold rush! There are billions of cubic meters of payable alluvium here.
@OzGeologyOfficial3 ай бұрын
You’re absolutely right! Deep lead mining in Victoria remains a huge challenge due to safety concerns and the depth of the gold-bearing channels. Once technology catches up, there’s massive potential for a new gold rush, especially with billions of cubic meters of alluvium still untouched. When safe methods are developed, it could be a game changer for mining in the region!

Not sure if you’re aware but it looks like your drone footage at the 14-15 second mark caught what is known as a sphere or Orb UAP in the bottom right hand corner. MUFON Australia would be interested in this video as they could work out its rate of speed from frames per second. It wasn’t a bird or insect because it was moving way too fast.

@laurahaaima14363 ай бұрын
It's the same in the Netherlands, 40.000 years of sediment has flown from Switzerland mountains.. I bet there is lot's of gold on the seabed between England and the Netherlands..
@OzGeologyOfficial3 ай бұрын
That’s fascinating! Over thousands of years, sediment from the Alps and other high mountain ranges like those in Switzerland has definitely found its way to lower areas like the Netherlands, carried by rivers such as the Rhine. Sediment deposition from these rivers into the North Sea has built up huge deltas, and it’s quite possible that some of this material could contain gold, given its origin in the mountains. As for the seabed between England and the Netherlands, it's definitely possible that there could be gold or other valuable minerals hidden in the sediments. Over geological time, these areas have been subjected to the erosion and transport of materials from various sources, potentially leaving behind precious metals. There’s already a lot of interest in exploring the seabed for resources, so who knows-maybe the next big gold rush will be underwater!
