As a Catholic, this video was very interesting to see what an outsider believes about our religion. A few things that were not well explained: a Pope is not infallible. Only when speaking "from the chair of Peter" , which I believe has only happened 3 or 4 times in regards to doctrine, is the Pope considered infallible. Also, we believe that the Eucharist is not "symbolic" of the last supper but that it miraculously BECOMES the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Christ. I know it's a lot of explain, but it's one of the central beliefs of our faith. I'm also so bummed that John Paul the second wasn't discussed in more detail because that man was a legend! Even before he becomes pope, his life was incredible! But overall, thank you for the respectful way you covered this topic!

The central area is MASSIVE in a way that makes skyscrapers seem quaint. I was able to go up to a lookout on the very highest point on top of the massive central dome. It was a stunning view. I have no idea if they still allow people up there but if they do don't miss it. The catacombs and preserved bodies of popes are surreal. @Duncan M no. The difference is that their communities struggled to speak out and the church actively protected the pedophiles
@manderson4165 жыл бұрын
@Duncan M Yea that's a conspiracy theory... What there is actually evidence for is that Anglo culture has historically been anti-Catholic, going as far back as the reign of Henry V, which is a sufficient explanation for why Catholicism is targeted by the media
@prepperjonpnw64825 жыл бұрын
Also, laws were changed to remove the statute of limitations for the Catholic Church only. Not the other institutions that had even higher rates of abuse. Such as Public schools in which a child is 200 times more likely to be abused than in any church. Plus most of the incidents in the Catholic Church not Pedophilia but were homosexual in nature meaning, they were with post-pubescent males. None of it is ok but there is a big difference between having sex with a 16 or 17 year old and molesting an 8 year old. The two main reasons the Catholic Church was targeted were one Hatred of Catholic’s going back hundreds of years and two the smell of money or greed. People think the Church has tonnes of money but it doesn’t. So when the lawsuits were done and the “Church” was ordered to pay all that money where do you think it came from? The current parishioners are the ones who paid it. Just sayin
