I traveled through that divided city. Both countries are in the EU, the only thing that makes the street names different and the different flags and border posts different. Both countries are friendly neighbors so there are no problems between them. The only interesting thing is that the same stores only with different discounts and salaries in both countries differ. E.g. In Estonia, wages are also more expensive, so Latvians work in Estonia and Estonians shop in Latvia. The city has long been divided so administrative issues should be dealt with normally. I am truly glad that my country has such wonderful neighbors in one of their fraternal countries. Greetings to the Latvian brothers from Lithuania and the Estonian neighbors.

Hi! Thank you for your reaction! I can't understand too, why they call our country and cities, dark🤔 They didn’t show, our beautiful, beach in city called Jurmala, which is longest beach in Baltic countries. Every summer, thousands and thousands tourists visit this wonderful sea side.

Valka/Valga was basically split in two following a referendum in early 1920's (not exactly a voluntary business, with the overwhelming presence of Estonian military), deciding the border dispute in favour of Estonia (leaving Latvia with a lesser part of the city to start from). In the end, though, both sides settled the dispute amicably and formed a joint city, under two governments, but largely the same rules. It remained the case during the Soviet times, and also today, when a lot of Latvians prefer to work in Estonia for better wages, and a lot of Estonians prefer to shop in Latvia for better prices.
