@@mkfleez5319 Yeah I've only started my research into our Samoan culture at the beginning of 2018 and was shocked at how our elders kept the ancient language alive, apparently the Matai system was the reason why our culture and customs were never lost like the tatau including bestowing of Titles through kava ceremonies and more, the Matai system is a bridge between the Ancient language of Samoa and the modern language, we Samoans call it "Gaga Fa'atamali'i" or "Gaga Fa'atupu" even Tongan royals can speak the ancient language of Samoan, Hawaiian kings also used to speaks it apparently the Samoans are known as "Tui" kings of the deep sea, Samoa means Sacred Center because it is the home of Tagaloalagi

Fun fact: All of the wrestlers shown in the "Famous Samoan" section belong to the same family: the Anoa'i. Everyone is blood-related, except for Peter Maivia, who is considered brother by blood-oath of Rev. Amituana'i Anoa'i (the head of the family and not a wrestler), which means Maivia' family (including his grandson, The Rock) is an honorary branch of the Anoa'i. Hawaiʻian: Kālā (money, "dollar") .."kala", which sounds (very roughly!) the same, has an interesting "hidden secret meaning" similarity to "kālā": kala - Pukui-Elbert, Haw to Eng, 1. nvt., To loosen, untie, free, release, remove, unburden, absolve, let go, acquit, take off, undo; to proclaim, announce; to forgive, pardon, excuse; to substitute for (Kin. 22.13); counter-sorcery or sorcerer, proclamation, public crier, announcer; prayer to free one from any evil influence; to practice counter-sorcery. (( PPN tala )) ..so, with "kālā" you can (to some extent) "kala" yourself (and others) from "unwanted and evil" things,.. like poverty and not having a decent board to heʻe nalu. :) Aloha nui ʻoukou! :) 🤙

Barely relevant story: in Japan I recently visited the Little World open air museum near Nagoya and in the Pacific Island realm, the Samoan traditional houses needed some fixing, so they actually brought in a crew from Samoa that still built traditional houses with historical methods and around the site there were signs with information about what they were doing and posters with the bios of the crew and phrases in Samoan and a message that encouraged people to talk to them about their craft and country when there was a chance. They were working the whole time so we couldn't chat with them, but we heard them speaking Samoan to each other the whole time and we told them thank you for your hard work according to the phrase poster and they thanked us back in Samoan. I just thought that was really neat. I'd love to see Samoa some day.
