A lot of tourists see Atlantis as the "Disney world" of the Bahamas. That mega resort look and feel get's a lot of cliche tourists, but some tourists find their way to the other islands to get away from the typical commercial mega resorts found in New Providence/Nassau. -And yes, we get tourists that get mad and complain to us when it rains.

I was thinking about starting up a learning channel as well. Pitching ideas off the wall here, but my idea was a channel that would explore the relations between two groups of people throughout history. Basically, I would do videos on the historic relations between the Aboriginals of Australia and the Indonesians, or the relationship between the tribes of Japan and the tribes of Korea and China, or the relationship between France and England throughout history. Just throwing shit at a wall here and seeing what sticks. Does anyone think they'd be interested in such a channel idea? I ask because Geography Now is a recent "learning" channel, and I love it, so I thought I could go into more detail about the conflicts of groups that form the nations today.

The Bahamas, known officially as the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, is a country within the Lucayan Archipelago of the West Indies in the Caribbean. It takes up 97% of the Lucayan Archipelago's land area and is home to 88% of the archipelago's population. The archipelagic state consists of fewer than 700 islands, cays, and islets in the Atlantic Ocean, and is located north of Cuba and Hispaniola Island (Haiti and the Dominican Republic), northwest of the Turks and Caicos Islands, southeast of the US state of Florida, and east of the Florida Keys. The capital is Nassau on the island of New Providence. The Royal Bahamas Defence Force describes The Bahamas' territory as encompassing 470,000 km2 (180,000 sq mi) of ocean space.

As a Bahamian I got too say.....This is all true. Should have talked more on the relations to other Caribbean Nations but you were spot on. Although you mispronounce some of the island names wrong but like I said, you were spot on.

”Sometimes you just gotta punch somebody in the face to develop a good friendship with them.” Funny that you should mention that, because it *HAS* happened to me. Once in elementary school, this one kid came up to me with a gang of sixth-graders and started attacking me, so, knowing, who the leader was, I literally punched him in the face, and that was the end of that, his gang broke, and he became my underling. True story.

You’ve got it wrong, I live in The Bahamas myself, the yellow represents the sun . We have pink sand beaches not golden , the blue represents the skies and the seas , and the black represents the color of the people

I am very offended by the term slum being used when describing my beautiful island...Andros! Andros is home to some of the most well built housing in the Bahamas...even more so than most of the more developed neighboring islands you spoke of! Obviously you have not traveled here otherwise your information would have been more informative and accurate. Also you have incorrectly pronounced the names of almost every island....

he did say it was incorrect stereotype, also people will mispronounced names if their not native, it not his fault as long as he tries to get it right.

Bahamas have 2 Greek named regions....Andros is also an island in Greece (with etymological connection with the Greek word for man..andras..άνδρας) also...eleuthera is ελεύθερα in Greek meaning free or freely...fact!!
