Thank you to all my Syrian subscribers (some even living currently IN Syria and have been experiencing the whole situation in person) that helped me out with this video and giving me their input. I hope all of you are able to build your country up and move forward in a positive manner, and who knows? If things go well I'd love to stop by and see it for myself if the circumstances allow it.

If I had a nickel for every dictator I know of who's parents were cousins, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. (Edit) So, from what people told me, it's not uncommon for Muslims to marry their cousins and thus Bashar's story isn't that weird after all.

My father whos a Syrian called me the morning the news broke out and called me and the only words he said was "we finally got rid of that criminal", later in the day he called me and said that is possible to go to Syria and visit his side of the family for the first time since 2011, i was very young back then but i have very vivid memories of spending time with my cousins and eating uncooked ramen by the fountain in the commune they lived in, i want to get to know my dads side of the family better since because of the language barrier it has been hard to contact them since many of them dont know Romanian or English, so it will be a joy to see them again.

One of the practical, everyday applications of having good geographical knowledge is being able to put in context random bits of news, understanding them better. Given that, this kind of video is a perfect fit for this channel. Even if a situation's relevance seems temporary, the video stays as a memory of the context in that moment, which often gets lost in historical research. It can also be used as reference for later videos updating on a theme. All this is to say: Geogra-talks are a great, valuable idea and I'd love to see more of this. Thank you Barbs!

This family only kept government positions for their own Alawite people and instilled sectarianism. These 2 butchers only ruled on the basis of their whims and desires and has killed and decimated at least one person from every Syrian family. @Surge127-h7l I would argue that this is the least extremist/evil organisation that couldve come to power. It couldve been SDF know for murdering doctors/engineers/teachers and suicide bombings or it could've been assad remaining in power still bombing its own citizens and imprisoning them unjustly. There is no good in war. All is evil but it just depends which side can achieve their version of "good" at the end. Tell me one war where a side didnt commit acts of atrocities.

5:25 Just a minor correction. It was not Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi who directed the creation of Al Nusra, it was probably Bin Laden or Al Zawahiri. Because Al Baghdadi is the ISIL guy not the AlQaeda guy Any country in the situation Syria was in will have radicalized people. Everyone gets radicalized when Sednaya is a thing. But once the dust has settled and the nation becomes free, most people will seek a democracy again. As a Syrian, I hope for some kind of Federal and democratic system just to avoid seperatism in the kurdish areas
