I'm from the state of Ohio, my high-school had a strange foreign exchange program with tuva, we even had a flag that we would fly outside my school that was a cross between Ohio and the tuva flag. We did video calls with the classrooms in tuva, their teachers would even teach our Ohio classes about tuva and greater Siberia and our teachers would teach the tuvan classes about ohio and the greater midwest and Appalachia... the great dynamic duo, tuva and Ohio

In many ways the history of Tannu Tuva mirrors some of the other central asian states that were absorbed into the Soviet Union, only that it remained as part of Russia after the Soviet Union collapse and didn't become an independent state.

I'm Tuvan. You did a fascinating research. I always found it interesting that we're internationally known mostly by HOI4 players. And that meme, "Tannu what?" I don't get the joke since I never played it, but I find it really cool that people know about us because of one game, kudos to the devs. Most Russians don't even know about our existence while gamers around the globe do, lol.

After WW2 the west refused to recognize the annexation of the 3 Baltic republics and right up until those 3 nations regained their independence were on their side , For some reason Tuva was never included on that list although it had a very similar case

My brother recently won a throat singing competition and got a car for it. In general, a funny and interesting story, because he was literally found on the street by a great throat singer, in whose honor the competition-concert was given. Walking on the street and heard the boy when he hummed to himself. He had problems in the family and he literally grew up in the Tuvan ghetto, with his parents drinking and often fighting with knives. My aunts invested a lot of time, effort and money in him to develop his talent. This is their common victory. You can look at the comparison, there are many guests from other nomadic republics and countries. Especially besides my brother, I liked the beautiful Mongolian girl in a white coat, but still my brother was there as a professional musician at a schoolchildren’s competition, even though everyone there is experienced and famous, except for throwing off the video, I’ll explain why: he doesn’t just sing , like everyone else, he can imitate 20 species of animals and generally sings excellently, his voice was well set, in addition to all this, he put on a show, a performance on the national instrument, while the rest sang more, he threw up the instrument, while masterfully playing and performing throat singing . The reason Russians where attacked because the original notion was to declare independence. Then they settled with the Russian federation. Unfortunately it turned out to be a bad move. It would be great if they had their independence again because now they just get either neglected or robbed blank of anything valiuable, including their youth. Their is a revival of shamanism tho. FUN FACT: Saltchak Tokas wife Khertek Anchimaa was head of state from 1940-44 (their annexation) and therefore holds the prestigious title of first female head of state of a republic.
