And there was that one time, which I will cherish for the rest of my life, that i thought: why don't you just click France? I went on vacation in France so many times that I recognize these white and black road signs with that typical font immediately. I'd say there's thousands of small tricks that all come with experience, not that I'm on RC's level. Yeah when I'm doing it at this speed I don't have time to explain what's going in my head but its a mix of having an immediate feel for an area (cause I've played so much) and then looking for specific clues to identify specifically.

Signage, roads, names and language are all big clues. Over time, you start to recognise foliage and geography as well as climate of an area to pinpoint the country. Im nowhere near RC's level, but I can guess some from general look like him- for example I immediately thought Botswana here (1:50) , which is just from experience to distinguish it from South Africa, Lesotho and eSwatini

Canada has a specific sign that can't be seen in the US. I zoom in on it at 4:25. It has a yellow and black checker pattern. Norway does have yellow lines but the dashes are a little longer and they can never have a double yellow solid line like in the US and Canada.
