Geogyfeirio Mapiau Hanesyddol
Mae'r fideo hwn yn dangos sut i geogyfeirio mapiau hanesyddol i haen mapiau modern. Geogyfeirio yw'r broses o gymryd map digidol ac ychwanegu gwybodaeth ddaearyddol at y ddelwedd i'w leoli ar fap modern. Mae 'pwyntiau rheoli' yn cael eu creu ar nodweddion sy'n bodoli ar y map hanesyddol a modern, er enghraifft croestoriad ffiniau caeau neu gorneli hen adeilad. Mae'r map hanesyddol a welir yn y fideo hwn yn Argraffiad 1af o fap Arolwg Ordnans (OS) y Gyfres Sirol o Ynys Môn a arolygwyd ym 1888. Mae'r llinellau coch yn OS MasterMap modern sy'n dangos y dirwedd fodern. Mantais geogyfeirio hen fapiau yn y modd hwn yw ei fod yn caniatáu inni weld lle mae nodweddion, megis adeiladau, ffiniau caeau a ffyrdd naill ai wedi aros yr un fath neu wedi newid ers hynny rhwng yr hanesyddol a’r modern. Er mwyn geogyfeirio'r map hwn yn gywir, crëwyd dros 275 o bwyntiau rheoli.

Georeferencing Historic Maps
This video shows how to georeference historical maps to a modern map layer. Georeferencing is the process of taking a digitised map and adding geographic information to the image to locate it on a modern map. 'Control points' are created on features that exist on both the historical and modern map, for example the intersection of a field boundaries or the corners of an old building. The historical map featured in this video is a 1st Edition County Series Ordnance Survey (OS) map from Anglesey that was surveyed in 1888. The red lines are modern OS MasterMap which shows the modern landscape. The benefit of georeferencing old maps in this way is that it allows us to see where features, such as buildings, field boundaries and roads have either remained the same or have since changed between the historic and the modern. To accurately georeference this map, over 275 control points were created.
