Sir diatoms are of silicous comp. Then they will die in aphotic zone ......as we know in aphotic zone silicous fossil r stable

Dear Abhijit and Nutan the diatoms will KT survive in the aphotic zone when they are living as they won’t be able to do photosynthesis. But when they die, their shells which are siliceous in nature will definitely get preserved as they are quite stable in the deepest part of the ocean. They can remain stable beyond CCD which is almost 4000 m depth. So don’t get confused between living organisms and fossils.
