Thank you... I'm planning to this to my student for inductive lesson... They will derive it the equation during our class discussion. =)

Isn't d(o) [Distance of object] suppose to be negative? because distances measured from O to the left is negative.

yes, its always -ve

There are multiple self-consistent conventions. I may be using a different one than your class.

Doc Schuster so what sign convention did you use sir? cause even acc. to the sign convention i know Do should be -ve

Hey doc while deriving optical equations like mirror formula lens formula, magnification,etc we use sign conventions ....why do we need to use sign conventions again in these formulae while solving numericals????
@DocSchuster9 жыл бұрын
Aaqib Javid Conventions allow us to speak to one another, like a shared language. Try a problem without conventions - you will probably get the wrong answer!

Hello! How to prove that - Di = Do?

you rock!@doc schuster

Also, isn't the lens formula 1/di - 1/do=1/f?
@DocSchuster11 жыл бұрын
Did you notice that both your conventions combine to create my convention? Cool!

Thank you for the quick replies Schuster :) These videos got me full marks in my Physics exam xD

z3em ~ thanks for the video but can you show me what happens when the object passes the focal point i know we are going to have image on the object size but how to generate the formula i fucken dont know` i would be happy if u help mi colo ~

199alexman I have several videos on ray tracing that may help you understand. Good luck!

thanks for replying back... i looked thro them the thing is i know how to get the image i am just having hard time figuring the derivation of the geometric formulas ~

Dude! It's a lens equation,not a thin lens equation which is different
@mdtoufiquzzaman91187 жыл бұрын
Pakhtoon KPK Ah the derived equation is actually a thin lens equation

You are better than Griffiths, write a book and it will be my Bible
@DocSchuster9 жыл бұрын
+Fernando Franco Félix Whoa. Did you just diss my man, Griffiths?!? Which of his books have you read? He's quite a bit better than me!
@falnica9 жыл бұрын
You noticed me!. I have read Introduction to Electrodynamics and to Quantum Mechanics, and yes, I do think you are better than Griffiths, because while he does everything right, you do it better. Also I love you energy and enthusiasm, I want to be like you. I had been reading all day Hecht's book, trying to understand this topic but it makes no sense the way he does it, but then I thought: "I bet my man Doc Schuster has a video on that", and you totally did, and it was so simple. Thanks
